Tom Wilson will be on the team. He brings something that nobody else has shown in the Superseries games so far and during the Russia-Canada games in the summer!
Agreed. I'm against bringing a grinder TEAM, but I think you want at least one dominating physical beast who scares the **** out of the opposition with constant, massive hits. IMO Wilson is the most physically dominant player we can bring, he should make the team (on the 4th line). He doesn't have to be brought at the expense of skill guys either, there would still be plenty of room for RNH, Huberdeau, Scheifele, Strome, MacKinnon, Drouin, etc.
A Gallagher situation would be Canada using a guy best suited to a bottom six role in a top six role, instead of someone clearly better suited to the top two lines. Last year Canada stuck with Gallagher (who I thought was terrible to mediocre throughout the tournament) instead of Connolly, even though it was obvious that Connolly belonged in the top group much more than Gallagher did. This would be similar to using Hudon on a top line instead of someone like MacKinnon/Rattie/Drouin.
Really? I thought he was one of the best players, easily one of the hardest working and never quit, putting up 3 points in the semis to give us a chance to come back against the Russians. Didn't perform too bad on the stats sheet either with 6pts in 6 games.
Although I agree that Hudon should be in the bottom 6.
Does anyone think Corrado has a shot at making the team? I don't know that much about some of his competition, but he did show some good chemistry with Hamilton at the Subway Series. Being able to play both sides has to be a plus for him to make the team.

Almost a month away, when will we hear more about the roster? I want to know for sure if RNH will be playing or not.
Well, the selection camp is 12/10-15 and the Super Series, which serves as a pre-selection camp evaluation, isn't even finished yet.
If the lockout is still on, the Oilers will have to decide if they'll release him, a decision that will be made much closer to the selection camp.
Nugent-Hopkins has already expressed interest, though.

As I mentioned above, 12/10 to 12/15 in Calgary.
As for when invitees will be announced, I think it's usually around the end of November, but things may be different this year because of the lockout.

No chance. He's a good player but there is simply too much competition.
Im gonna go with a big fat "no". Ceci due to him being about the 12th best Canadian defenseman under 20 right now, and Puempel due to the logjam in top six roles and his inability to be anything other than a pure scorer
D locks for me are Harrington, Reilly, Murray and Hamilton. Oullette seems probable for the 3rd pairing too. That would leave 2 spots. Given who the coach is, I think Murphy will at least be the seventh D as a PP specialist. I don't know if we need that with the talent of some of the D we already have. However, as mediocre as he looked in this series, he was a standout in some of those summer games to me. Ceci, Koekkoek and Dumba haven't looked great in this series. Corrado played so solidly that he has a shot, but really, those top 4 will log 50 minutes a game anyways. I'd rather go with a solid two way player with more experience for that other 5/6 slot.
Matt Puempel has a good shot to make the team but won't play a significant role... his skating issues could cause him and Team Canada problems on the big ice. I could see Cody Ceci being brought over as a spare, certainly ahead of someone like Frank Corrado, but most likely won't be a regular.

While Ceci certainly has the higher upside, many people consider Corrado to be the better player at this point. Why are you so adamant Ceci would be brought over before Corrado?

I've noticed there's a sort of negative connotation on HF around Corrado being on the team. I think it's largely due to the fact that Vancouver fans keep bringing up his name, and only during recent months (which is somewhat expected to his recent somewhat surprising success), and other fans are reacting unkindly to the hype wave.
My opinion on Corrado is that he is the 9th best Canadian U20 defender after Hamilton, Murray, Rielly, Murphy, Oullet, Harrington, Dumba and Reinhart, and thus will likely not garner a roster spot

I'm not going to disagree with any of those guys, and I doubt he makes the team too. I'm just curious why someone would think Ceci would "certainly" be brought in before him.

Personal preference I guess? Ceci is no slouch, although he was lousy in the Super Series
Since Im getting kind of bored of seeing people shuffle the same 30 names around, what do people have as an early prediction for the 2014 team?
