Yep. Phil is just a jealous *********. If the Giants had not won 42 or 46 and Eli had not won the MVPs, Phil would not be spewing this garbage. He's been replaced and his ego cannot tolerate that.

I don't think Simms is jealous at all. When Simms became an analyst before Eli came to NY, he was always fair when it came to the Giants.
Simms is just being a typical broadcaster going with the flavor of the month. After the SF game, the national media was in fact putting Eli in the Brady-Rodgers-Brees category. Now that he's been slumping, he's back to being in the second tier.
Eli is an elite QB. I think Simms is trying to stir the pot and create a buzz.
Sims isn't anti-Eli. He said last season that he thinks he's a HOF lock.
Quote:
"Here we were five years ago, before the Giants won their first Super Bowl, and all the talk that year was maybe the Giants need to bring another quarterback in and Tom Coughlin's in trouble," Simms told USA TODAY Sports.
"Now they both absolutely one day will go in the Hall of Fame.
"Eli has been a real clutch quarterback. When you talk about why, never underestimate who he plays for and how he's been groomed."
Older generations of Giants fans will always love Phil Simms. He was a very good QB. Anybody who followed the Giants back then knows that Parcells was all about ground and pound. Simms was the perfect QB for that system.

Thank you for this post. Simms is getting unfairly killed for this innocuous comment. Simms has been a vocal supporter of Eli. He had a great line during the Steelers game that Eli was going to own all the Giants passing records although he might need to step up to break his (Simms) interception record.
They both seem so bitter towards Eli. I wonder the fact Eli will be a HOF and neither one of them will (although Warner should be) plays a role?
I also think Simms is still bothered the way the Giants let him go.

Saying he's jealous doesnt match his character and demeanor when he played. Publicly, hee was a team-first guy through and through.
Simms has every right to be bitter towards Hostetler though. Any NFL coach will tell you that a starter doesnt lose his job because of injury. Handley picking Hostetler over Simms was a massive mistake.
I dont think Simms cares that Eli will break his records. In fact, there are a couple of Simms' records that Eli will never touch.
All that being said -- Eli deserves to be criticized. Simms is a member of the media who's just doing his job.
But it goes back to what I said earlier -- Eli is undoubtedly elite...he's just in a different class of elite. He will go down as one of the greatest pressure QB's in NFL history.
I think he likes it that way. I'd rather be an average regular season QB and ace the postseason than ace the regular season and have the reputation of a choker.
Rams killing my fantasy team on a day where Jackson should be dominating. Dude is averaging 5 a carry yet they keep giving it to Richardson, and Bradford throws on 75% of the downs.
Well, picking up Shaub on my fantasy team was a great move.

matt ryan threw 0 touchdowns and 5 interceptions and the falcons still won. that just shows you how bad arizona's offense is. they had some guy named ryan lindley starting at quarterback. poor fitzgerald. that team has to have the worst quarterbacks in the league.

**** Fitzgerald. He chose to sign a massive contract with them.
Eagles last win was against the Giants.
We're the only team that can't beat them. They even turn the ball over against everyone, EXCEPT the Giants.
Could be the Islanders complex. I watch my fair share of Islanders games, ya know, when hockey is being played, and they play at 50% intensity of what they bring against the Rangers. Tale of two teams.
Doesn't help that the Giants play to their competition like no other team I've ever seen. Which is great against great teams, and horribly frustrating against poor teams.
