Anyone got his stats at Fenway? As long as the contract is less than 5 years I'm all in. I'm hoping we over pay short term from now on instead of these drawn out contracts.
Edit nevermind I found them. Impressive, most impressive.

Not sure what happened in the Toronto series, but he rakes AL East. I think he'd flourish in Boston.

I like Hamilton, but the issue with him going forward obviously is his health. I'd go max 4 years with a club option for a 5th. Ortiz, Hamilton, Middlebrooks is pretty damn solid. Throw Napoli in there if you sign Jim and that's a very dangerous 1-6 with Ellsbury and pedroia.

I agree 4 years max. If we're going to spend $100+million, pay the guy for the years he's worth it not half now and half for an additional 4 after he's left the team.

I'd go all in on Hamilton for 4 years with whatever it takes to sign him. Re-sign Cody Ross, and sign Napoli. Trade for whatever decent pitching that we can get. I'd also start Ciriaco at SS, and let Igelsias sit in AAA and work on hitting.

Ellsbury CF
Pedroia 2b
Ortiz DH
Hamilton LF
Middlebrooks 3b
Napoli 1b/C
C Ross RF
Ciriaco SS
D. Ross/Salty/Lavarnway C

Why would they bother? Stanton is a stud and cost controlled for a long time. There's no reason to move him. The reason they moved the guys they have over the last 5 months is because they didn't want to be on the hook for big money for years. That's not the case with Stanton. He's there for short money, and will be for quite some time.

I don't see them trading Stanton. He's a stud, and outplaying his current contract.

If they sign Hamilton, the main reason will be to "pry" fans back to the team. Also, Toronto's mega deal will certainly play a role in it. Thing is, there's not much out there via FA that will "Wow" Red Sox fans.

Ironically, I don't think them signing Hamilton will wow Sox fans anyway. If anything, it will make them more jaded.

Starts with Bogaerts. Gotta give up your top young guy no matter what to get Stanton.

Bogaerts + Barnes + Brentz would be my offer.

My opinion on bogaerts is that he shouldn't be involved in any deal unless a young ace starting pitcher is coming back. Felix hernandez is really the only guy I have in mind. But an outfielder who has only hit in the NL? Too many variables, too much risk. Watch what happens in the entry level draft, there are a couple great outfielders that could be available in meadows, Frazier and wilson. In a couple years any of those guys could give the sox comparable stats to what Stanton can put up. I'm ready to mail in 2013 and wait for the future which seems very bright. Bogaerts, Barnes, bradley, Webster, ranaudo, marrero, swigart..etc.

I really doubt he comes here, but if he did, hopefully it would be on the Red Sox terms, and not his terms (7 years/$175 million).

It might just be a burn me once type situation, but I'd be afraid that Stanton would as expected, but Bogaerts would turn into a very similar player, and at least one of the other two would make it a big win for Miami.

I want Hamilton badly. He's just what we need to fix the state of the clubhouse. Turn over a new leaf. And I'm not worried about his off the field stuff. I don't see him coming here, but I wouldnt hate it. He instantly upgrades our team.

As far as off the field stuff I'd imagine any team that signs him will have clauses in the contract they could use for an out if he relapses.

I wouldn't mind having Hamilton either. I was on the fence about it at first but now that I think of it, he would be a huge upgrade for this team going forward because Ellsbury might leave. I'm also not worried about his lack of enthusiasm to play sometimes or off the field issues, there's a reason we have Farrell right? As long as it isn't more than 4 years or 100+ million, I'd do it. Then we just need to trade for some pitching and get a 1st baseman. If we can't get another outfielder, re-sign Ross or whatever, I don't mind because we have options there (Sands,Sweeney,Kalish,Nava,Repko"if re-signed"). It won't be the end of the world.

I agree, but that would be the cost of getting a 23 year old player with prodigious power and gold glove caliber defense (very underrated aspect of his game)

I absolutely agree Bogaerts would be gone if we were to trade for Stanton. I just think Bogaerts is going to be a beast and I don't touch him.

I think Boston will eat him up...media that is. First time he goes into a slump and is seen out on the town, all you will hear from the wanna-be's like Haggertys is that he is off the wagon or relapsing.

I like Hamilton, but if I were him, I'd look smaller market. Stay away from Boston, NY, Chicago and Philly. Hey, he may not win in Seattle or some of those other places, but his overall quality of life would be far better.

Just my opinion.
