What's going on with Ryan Rupert?

He doesn't have any goals so far and his brother is doubling him in points. I just find this strange considering Ryan is the one who got drafted and Matt went undrafted. Wasn't Ryan supposed to be the better prospect? Is Ryan playing hurt or something?

Ryan Rupert is out with a shoulder injury he sustained Thursday night after hitting Spitfires defenseman, Nick Ebert. Out 2+ weeks. #Leafs

Good question. Matt has taken off. Good thing drafting one essentially has granted us the rights to the other... unless of course he gets drafted this year.

Ryan has been pesky, but he simply hasnt been able to produce. Not quite sure whats going on, but in general London seems to be underachieving.

If I remember correctly he Had 7 points in his first 7 games and then 0 over his next 8? I thought it was kinda odd.

What makes you think goalscoring has anything to do with which one will be a better prospect?

The Leafs drafted Ryan to fill a 3rd/4th line role, and clearly since they spent a pick on him, they feel he can do that at the NHL level. Even if Matt puts up 50 goals this year, what does that amount to if he can't translate his game to the pros?

The problem is that London's coach loves them and is giving them 1st line minutes playing with our star player Seth Griffith, and they are way out of their element playing in a pure offensive role. Last year when they were so highly regarded they were playing on a third line agitation/checking role with Preds 1st rounder Austin Watson, and they were very good at it. Basically, they are now playing against far superior defensive pressure this year (since every coach is going to shutdown Griffith as much as possible) and are not producing as well because of that

ACTUALLY .... Ryan Rupert has a shoulder injury that happened Nov 1st during the SUBWAY Super Series. He is expected to be off the ice for atleast a month to recover, this is why he is being scratched every game.

The brothers played the first weekend of the season with Griffith and they had a great couple of games (Griffith was player of the week). Then they got split up as a line and they played a lot more with Welychka as a checking line and both brothers struggled mightily offensively in October. Since Ryan went down with injury Matt has found his offensive game again.
