Ive probably seen Rychel more then 5 times but last night playing with that high end talent as an undrafted player he really impressed me. Hes 6'1, 200Lbs so size wont stop him from playing his game at the next level and generally south western Ontario boys can play that style well. South western Ontario and the prairies pump out the toughest Canadians.

Hes got ability though. Is always hustling and contributes even if he isnt producing, hes a good PKer, physical and creates energy. He popped in 41 goals last year and is turning it on after a slow start this year. He will fight a bit as well if he has to.

I also like Max Domi who could fall a bit based on size but the kid is so strong on the puck that size doesnt matter. He takes after his old man in that sense. The kid can be flat out dominant, I dont know if the wings pick high enough for him or not though

I read on Tampa forum, maybe before lockout that Stevie Y and Detroit management where scouting Windsor games.. Rychel is basically only draft eligible player that will go on early rounds.

Calle "assist" Jarnkrok with two apples today and +2, beat Backman's team 4-1 on the road. Backman played his usual 20 minutes but was a rare -2.

Theres a few others like Maletta, but Rychel fits the mold of what the wings are looking for in the draft now. Size, toughness and skill to boot. Not to mention hes projected around where the wings should be picking

It didnt look like a weakness in the subway series at all. He and wilson were great on the forecheck. I dunno if I would call him fast but I noticed him getting in hard on the forecheck

He has worked very hard on it. They did an ESPN article on it a while back and his Dad talked about him putting in long hours on it. The couple scouts said it is where he has made the largest improvements and Kerby Rychel said it is an area he wants to continue getting better in. Seemed a hard worker from what I remember it was behind the paywall a little while ago don't feel like looking it up. But seems a solid character kid and he is going to put in the work and leans on peoples advice to get better. Could do a lot worse than him in the first round.

You could do a lot better as well. He is a guy that isn't going to provide an instant boost to you're team. He doesn't really create offence and needs a good supporting cast around to be effective. If a team can't provide that, it won't do much good.

I personally see him struggling to adapt to the quickness of the pro game, time will tell though.

Pulkkinen scored a goal as Jokerit beat rival HIFK 3-2. A breakaway on a counter attack where he showed good speed and a lazer wristshot top-shelf. Assist from Ruutu, a nice saucer pass.

Red Wings prospect Marek Tvrdon is reportedly out for the season with a medical issue. While Vancouver coach Don Hay wouldn't confirm or deny what it was he is suffering from, the belief is that it's a blood clot in his arm. On Saturday night, Tvrdon was scheduled to play but skated over to the trainer and pointed at his arm before being pulled off the ice. After the game, Hay said Tvrdon had an infection in his arm.

If it's true that he's out for the season, that really sucks. He'll have played 3 seasons in the WHL and only one full one, 96 games all together.

Marek Tvrdon, the Vancouver Giants’ leading scorer and a draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings, has been lost for the season due to a medical issue.

“It’s a tough day,” said Giants head coach Don Hay. “Marek’s health is the most important thing and I’ve been told he won’t be able to play again this season.”

Tallinder missed five months with a blood clot in his leg last year. Even if I'm sure it's case to case it sounds about right the he will miss the rest of this season. Too bad.

At least this one just sounds like a freak accident. Should not affect his long term success.

Wow, this is terrible news. I had a feeling it might be staph infection from the other night, but this is much worse than that. I hope Marek makes a speedy recovery with no long term problems. If he needs high doses of blood thinners I cannot see how he plays the game. I know Fleischmann and Tallinder have made through this but blood clots are not all the same. It is usually an issue for people that fly from there on out and is life altering.

#RedWings pick Marek Tvrdon (2011, 4th rd) had an operation on a blocked vein in his shoulder, will be out remainder of WHL season.
It was a shoulder injury that cut his season short in 2010-2011, I wonder if it has anything to do with that?

Edit. Confirmation from the Giants: http://www.vancouvergiants.com/artic...for-the-season

No points for Järnkrok, -1 and 20:18 icetime. Bäckman with an assist on the OT-winner(1-0), +1 and 21:34 icetime.

I only read the game summary, said that Calle hit the iron twice. So the goalscoring woes continue.

Doubt it.

Last time it was Labrum tear, bad one but on right shoulder. Now it seems it's left shoulder.

Yeah I saw one of them, it was a very 'sharp' wrist shot from the point on the PP and it just about hit the post. His wrister is very impressive and it's not like he's shooting wide all the time. He's actually hitting the net/gets blocked so I think he'll start scoring more as the season continues.

Here's Pulkkinen's goal at 1:44. Also I'd love the Wings to sign Steve Moses (at 2:25) to a entry level deal when he's ready to come back over:

Good/Bad news on Tvrdon. Bad news is he is, indeed, out for the season. Good news, it should not affect his hockey career.

Quote:
The Vancouver Giants announce today that left winger Marek Tvrdon has undergone a medical procedure earlier this week and will be out for the remainder of the 2012/13 WHL season.

“Marek had a small blockage isolated to a single vein in his left shoulder,” says Giants’ General Manager & Executive VP, Scott Bonner. “It was completely and rapidly dissolved and he is doing very well. Marek is under the excellent care of numerous specialists and he is recovering quickly. He will not be returning this season but he is expected to have a full recovery and future career as a hockey player.
http://www.vancouvergiants.com/artic...for-the-season

Aside from the health scare, it's also bad news for Tvrdon because I have a funny feeling, due to how crummy the Giants are this year, he would have been a likely candidate to go to a better team at the deadline and get a shot at a WHL Championship.

I had the same feeling and was hopeful he would get traded to Portland and play opposite Rattie on the other wing. I guess he also could have wound up in Saskatoon for the memorial cup. Saskatoon needs to do something they are tracking as one of the more embarrassing hosts.

On Tvrdon he already has a contract so I don't know if it even possible, but you have to wonder if an overage year wouldn't be best. I have no concerns about his physical build although the injury problems are troubling. It isn't like his frame cannot handle pro hockey. Ferraro has put his injury trouble behind him now that he is a pro, I guess we will hope for the same. I have always been high (I know too high) on Tvrdon but even I am extremely worried about what basically two whole seasons of lost development will mean in the long run. He has a long way to go in his two way game, the good news is his offense remained very strong after his last injury, he seems to have an exceptional feel for the game inside the other teams blueline. But he will need a lot more areas to improve to be the player I hope for.
