I'd think more of a Joe Nieuwendyk mold. Big, strong centre that drives to the net and has a great shot.

Ah, but the difference is that I'm actually being somewhat serious. Perhaps not Gretzky 15.0, but I do think the kid could be primetime.

I know, I was under the impression that Jankowski was at the last day of that range (ie a day later and he wouldn't be eligible).

almost - you have to be born on or before sept. 15 and he was born sept. 13 - so he made it in by three days. teuvo teravainen was the other guy in the first round who barely made the cut off - he was born sept. 11.

incidentally, nathan mackinnon will be one of the youngest players in this year's draft - he was born sept. 1.

patrick marleau (san jose) was born sept. 15...so in his draft year he qualified for the draft on the last possible day.

Ah, must've just been youngest of this draft, rather than youngest ever.

And Barkov is born the next day.

When will people tell mothers to have their kids in January/February? Life is much easier for those kids.

Either way, one would assume that he might have as much as a full year of growing/bulking up and development over some players of his draft class.

I'm pretty sure that was sensationalized for much the same reasons as already explained. It's a similar league to US prep leagues. It's a common concern from any high school league. Is this player really that talented or is jsut because of the competition.

Nick Bjugstad had identical concerns coming out of a Minnesota high school prep league, and look how thats worked so far. He's probably the closest comparable to Jankowski in recent year's.

I make fun of this pick a lot; mostly because of Feaster's best player in the draft declaration.

That said, I'm very curious to see how he does this year. It sounds like he's off to a good start.

Not bad, depending on people's expectations so far. I believe if he weighs 175 like the site says that he's put on a fair amount of weight

He has certainly had some growing pains up to this point in the early NCAA season but that is to be expected. Not only does he have to adjust to a tremendous step up in competition, but also to a new position (atleast to this point). I suspect he will only get better and better as the season progresses and his confidence increases.

I have caught a few games via an online stream and he was certainly impressive. With that said there is still huge room for improvement in all facets of his game and that will only come with time.

Haven't watched him yet but should he have maybe gone to Dubuque for a year? Don't think it would have hurt..

Not bad? 4 points in 9 games is hardly impressive no matter what league you're playing in. But I think it's more than just about statistics for him this year. It's about maturing physically and mentally.

It'll be interesting to track his development in the NCAA over the next couple of years.

Considering how raw he is, its not surprising he isnt ppg since there is a huge difference in competition.

It's not like Providence is an offensive powerhouse either. Jankowski is 2nd in goals for the team.
