Don't mind this move, hopefully this pressures the players to force Fehr to negotiate.

That should tell all how easy it is to show a loss.

Well that about does it for me.

Last couple days I've really started to get over the whole thing. I used to browse these threads all day looking for information and I think I'm finally at the point where I just don't care anymore. If this two week moratorium idea is legitimate, good riddance. I don't blame the NHL for doing it and I'm curious to see how Don and his minions respond, but who really cares anymore?

I dont like fehr and think hes a poor choice if the PA does want a deal, but putting bias aside, if fehr suggested two weeks off would have it been heralded as a psychological tactic or would people around here be calling him the devil.
Calling him the devil, because the players have said they wanted to play, because the owners have been the one moving on their offers, the players haven't really negotiated, etc.

Excuse me.
Only 3/30 teams are making any significant money.
The rest are making less than the top 25 players or in the red.
Hardly incentive to keep operating.

Fehr IS the devil :0)

When people laugh at me for liking the NHL I have always defended it and gave reasons why this is a great game, I am not really sure how I can defend this league anymore when people laugh it, If this 2 week layoff is true what a Bleeping joke this league has turned into!

27/30 number I think came from some article (from Forbes I believe), saying that if you take out the big 3 (NYR, MTL, TOR), then the league would be operating at a loss

Dreger's pessimistic quotes leave me little hope that a season will be played this year. RIP 2012-13 season.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Series of Daly quotes on league initiated hiatus: "We have made repeated moves in the Players' direction with absolutely no reciprocation."

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Daly: "unfortunately, we have determined we are involved with Union leadership that has no genuine interest in reaching an agreement."

This will help.

I was thinking this was a ploy to get the players to speak up (maybe)

They're calling the PA out now.

NHL: You don't even want to reach an agreement!

NHLPA: Of course we do!

NHL: Then get your butts back to the table and let's talk.

Cause Don would just punt the ball away every time Gary offered to play with him, and Gary got sick of having to fetch it.

Nope, but he is calling a spade a spade, Fehr has been more concerned with trying to aggitate the owners then trying to negotiate a deal at this point. As I said earleir hopefully this wakes the players up a little so that they force Don to stop his gamesmenship and to seriously negotiate a deal. The NHL is effectively putting the ball in the PA's court be saying we have no problem taking time off, come back to us when your ready to make a deal.

Such a stupid comment. Players have said it as well that the owners have no interest in playing or making a deal. Dumbest comment that could be made by both sides, it just makes no sense at all.

Also, I'm not sure how Daly can say "no reciprocation" when the players are the only side who are losing anything even in the proposed offers. If it's a given that the share needs to be changed, i believe they somehow started a negotiation with some "reciprocation".

That was the PA's tactic from the very beginning:
Press the league in another lockout, blame them for that. Start with an offer that provides a little compromise regarding 50-50, and then wait and wait and wait until the league comes close enough for the best deal.

yeah, but they are gaining a job. And 50% of revenue, without paying any of the expenses.

Actually I think its more like Bettman playing the role of Charlie Brown and Fehr is Lucy pulling the ball away.
