The Stars scratched Jack Campbell in favor of Josh Robinson in the backup role. "Robinson's been playing real well," siad Desjardins. "We thought we'd pull him up and give him a look." He was unsure if Robinson would get a start, saying "Nilstorp is playing well so he'll probably get a little more."

Austin Smith was also pulled up from Idaho but has yet to play in a game. Desjardins had the following to say on that matter: "We have a few guys up who aren't in the lineup. It's hard to bring someone in and sit the guys that have been with you all year. Austin looks better and is getting his confidence. The other guys will probably get a chance first though."
Pretty upsetting news on Austin Smith. And the rationale is even stupider.

Really don't understand (or like even a little bit) some of the decisions being made in Austin.

At this point as long as half of our top prospects are playing on a given night it's a success. Pretty retarded.

Willie, I am disappoint.

Those quotes... it's the same kind of inane circular coach-logic that I thought we got rid of with Crawford.

So you're not going to play A. Smith because he hasn't been with you all year... and he hasn't been with you all year because you wouldn't play him...

Yet here's some random ECHL goalie who hasn't been with you all year so let's bench our top prospect for him because, I don't know, that's how you develop them, right?

And this can't be a Glennie type situation. JC's calling card is his work ethic and positive attitude.

He seems more interested in playing mind games with our prospects than playing them in games.

I don't recall Fraser getting robbed, but it could be because Oleksiak's was so memorable.

Think Brad Richards circa 2008 vs. Evgeni Nabakov in Game 6. It was even from almost the same spot on the ice.

Oleksiak immediately threw his head back in disgust and covered his face. It was pretty funny, but I felt bad for the guy.

How did Chiasson look? I know he's*had this mysterious illness but his lack of production is worrisome for a guy considered one of our most NHL ready prospects.

He's not making mistakes or costly turnovers, and he seems to be hustling. He's just not getting much PP time, and I don't think playing with Wathier and Petersen is a big help either. He doesn't look like a threat to score most shifts though. Nobody on the line does. This is a line that needs a shakeup, but if it happens you can pretty much guarantee Willie is benching Chiasson .... so that sucks.

Now on the other hand, Reilly Smith is really flying around out there. He's just snake bitten and the puck is going just wide, catching someone's calf, or the goalie is making a good save. He may not be producing points, but he looks dangerous nearly every shift, but he's also gets a big boost playing with Eakin and Vincour.

Glennie's line with Gazdic and Roussel actually is a pretty impressive group. They're the most physical line. Glennie isn't nearly as aggressive as the other two though. They got trapped in the D zone on one or two shifts, but they spend the majority of the time in the offensive zone. I really like Roussel actually. He's seemed to tone down the Steve Ott act, and he's a very good checking forward IMO.

I think Chiasson could maybe benefit from playing with Gazdic and Roussel or even Roussel and Glennie. I like what I've seen from Gazdic, but his special niche is fighting, and I really just don't care about that talent too much. I love a fight every once in a while, but I hate the idea of a fighter taking a spot in the Top 12.

I think it would be a better Bottom 6 maybe this way:

Chiasson-Roussel-Glennie
Wathier-Petersen-A. Smith

I would rather see A Smith in the ECHL taking top 6 minutes there.

And we all know the AHL is a fighting gongshow at times, so what's the harm is keeping Wathier's younger (and probably just as talented) replacement in the lineup?

Damn and its hard to use the old "guys who have been with us all year" think when all year has been like a dozen games.

Well Willie's first year here was under Crawford. Perhaps he took some coaching ideas from him and the rest of the staff from that year?

Yeah the "same guys all year" thing was so beyond stupid when I read it.

Did Eakin get injured? He isn't playing and they are rolling odd centers on different lines.

Sounded like he said Eakin wasn't on the bench. Hard to tell with both audio feeds going concurrently.

R. Smith is a magician along the boards creating space and manipulating the puck.

What a pass by Sceviour... Barker couldn't convert.

Sceviour and Morin are buzzing.
