There's a big difference with Hedman in Tampa and Hedman with Tre Kronor though. Ask Tampa and they're happy with what he's turned into, logging tough minutes and still is improving. Ask a bunch of Swedes and they'd probably say Hedman hasn't lived up to expectations because he's seen as an offensive D-man not putting up points. And the guy is 21.. He's actually younger than Justin Schultz and was drafted a year after him aswell. Perspective is key.
When players are reaching Backlund and Tedenby territory, i.e. a couple or more NA seasons but still aren't full-time players, that's when I'd start to talk about them maybe not living up to being 1st rd draft picks. But really, that's why they're called prospects and not stars the minute they are drafted. I don't think this comes as shock that some hit, some miss. Erik Karlsson and Marcus Johansson meet Dennis Persson and Anton Gustafsson. Evander Kane and Sean Couturier meet Angelo Esposito and Scott Glennie. Et cetera.
Tough for teams to get many goals when key players doesn't produce.
True . And the opposite generally applies as well when looking at individual players. Easier to score if you play with skilled players...
Now, Silfverbergs' 6 points makes him share the first spot in Binghamtom, whereas he wouldn't make the top ten in some other teams. So how would you rate his AHL start?
Almqvist doesn't count as a rookie because he's played in over 100 SEL games(the rookie eligibility rules say maximum 100 elite league games), yet they do list Cehlin as a rookie(who has 152), Bång however(only has 90) is counted and should be fine as a rookie despite being 25. Weird rules.

I think Silfverberg has been a bit underwhelming, but as you point out, haven't really gotten a fair shake at playing with some of the top playmaking forwards on the team.
Lately he's been with career minor leaguers but strangely enough played his best hockey. Both Silfver and Mika are generating shots, though, so the goals will come eventually, even though many of them are from long range or not really prime scoring chances.

I only watched B-sens early on and Silfver looked really slow. Has this been the case lately aswell or has his speed adjusted by now?

Are you sure that's the reason? Almqvist did have a few games with the Grand Rapids in the regular season 11/12.
If just counting SEL games, heck, Silfverberg must have closer to 200 and is still counted as rookie...!

Well, if Mika doesn't score soon, he just might be judged as the decent player he is...

Whereas Silfverberg, Ekholm, etc only played in the NHL and not the AHL... Could that be the cutoff, no games in prior AHL seasons? Which in that case kind of would reflect the definition of "rookie"... as in contrast to the swedish version
Who qualifies as an AHL rookie?
To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in a total of twenty-five (25) or more AHL and/or NHL regular-season games in any preceding seasons, nor in six (6) or more AHL and/or NHL regular-season games in each of any two preceding seasons, nor in one hundred (100) regular-season games in any European Elite League. A player who has met these qualifications but did so while playing on an amateur try-out agreement or as a signed junior will not have those games count towards his rookie status. Any player at least twenty-six (26) years of age (by Sept. 15 of that season) is not considered a rookie.
I don't know, read it as you like. Seems willy-nilly to me.

He's actually appeared quicker lately. I know what you mean though he did appear slow early on...probably just tentative and uncomfortable on the small ice.

Especially the first few strides were missing, he was getting caught more than he set himself free I thought.

Hmm.. what? Are you saying that he gets more hype than he deserves? If so, I agree.

Agree with you guys. He was caught taking too much time a lot early on as well.
Wait, Alex Urbom is 6'5"? It feels like they've added an inch here and there on others too..
It doesn't feel like Urbom has progressed that well. A couple of years ago he was close to making the Devils out of camp. Maybe shouldn't read too much into his offensive numbers though, he's never gonna be that guy at the NHL level. Pretty interesting aswell that Josefson and Larsson are #1 and #2 in team scoring with those stats.
Personally I'm most impressed by Larsson and Sundström putting up a good amount of points right away.

True! Only listed as 6'3 in eliteprospects. Whatever it takes to get a tall defenseman I suppose...

Very impressed by Sundström as well, anyone had opportunity to see him play? Why isn't Lander scoring more by the way, he has played pretty well when I've watched him..?!
Larsson has benefited a lot from getting to play on the first line with the Aeros. Will be interesting to see what happends now that Granlund seems to be returning to ice, although Larssons game should fit in well in the AHL/NHL imo.

I'm not too surprised Lander has turned into an offensive black hole. He was put in the NHL right away playing no offensive situations at all. Even if he was sent to AHL late in the year he missed out on a step of development. He'll probably turn it around eventually but it might take the rest of this year, and the best thing for him would be if the lockout ends so he can play a more significant AHL role.
