Here is a list of defenders that play a 6.2 200+ pound physical defensive game ,they are the best at it so they are the best defensively

Are you saying you don't understand what they mean?

It's the percentage of the vote in each poll.

So Chara had 73% in the first poll. Then Suter had 32% in the next poll that didn't include Chara, and so on.

Weber at 3...? On the defensive defensemen list? I'm not so sure about that...

No Enstrom eh?

I'd switch Staal and Gorges then I agree with the first 10 maybe.. The rest seems like a crap shoot.

He's far from terrible. He's still easily top-20 for me.

Ok terrible was too strong. Mediocre? If he is top-20 in the NHL why does he face the 5th most difficult quality of competition on the Devils blueline? Shouldn't he be taking on opponents' toughs?

He isnt tough enough or doesnt have enough blocked shots ,clearly he isnt as valuable in the defensive zone as most listed there

Would add Volchenkov and bump up Keith. Girardi I'd slide a slot up maybe. Sometimes he is really, really good. Same with McDonagh. Don't understand the flak on the great job he's done is for. Oh well. This is HF

It's not so much defensive defensemen as much as ranking of defensive ability of defensemen. So Karlsson would be pretty low on this list, despite being the Norris winner.

Vlasic really should be higher on the list.... Seriously.

I was a big Volchenkov fan, but he's headed south clearly. If the Devils actually felt they had a top-20 defensive defenseman in their hands, his time wouldn't have gone down in the playoffs...he was the least used defenseman they had and he didn't give them a reason to bump it up any...

There's no way it can be spun to where Weber is three unless you bring offense into it. He's just not that polished defensively.

My first guess would be not turning the puck over...

The best defense is staying out of your own zone to begin with. Therefore I'd take quite a few good puckmovers with above average defense over guys on this list.

What should be done is a great big list of defensive names and the ability to pick only 15 names, equally!

He does go against the best players on the PK. ES he doesn't offer much offensively so naturally he is used less. He just isn't that mobile anymore. I admit he has regressed but he's still capable of playing excellent defense when he isn't injured or concussed.

They need a new trophy for true defensive defensemen. They are the overlooked category yet each team wants one or more.

What would be a good name for it? We could start a new poll with names for the trophy. Would need a design team with vision to make a unique looking trophy. How do you get another award created? Do you need signatures and who does it get submitted to?

Anyone know the process?
