A-Rod isn't going anywhere. Period.

Yeah, now that Loria's shown (again) how much of a money-grubbing weasel he really is there's no way he's paying any real money for A-Rod. If A-Rod's going anywhere it's LA at this point. Otherwise they're probably stuck with him.

thought Kershaw and Verlander should've won the Cy Young

can't really argue with Dickey though

Kershaw and Dickey have pretty much identical stats aside from the record and that's probably why Dickey won. 20-6 vs 14-9.

I am a little surprised the AL Cy Young went to Price instead of Verlander, but I'm on board with them picking Dickey.

If Cabrera didn't win the Triple Crown, Trout probably gets MVP. I'm glad a once-in 45 year occurrence got rewarded though, at least common sense won over new age numbers.

I'm still not happy about that. The writers got blinded by the flashy achievement of the Triple Crown, which is an outdated standard of excellence.

And some fans got blinded by Trout's age. Cabrera had a better season. He led in almost every major offensive category.

Tigers don't come close to making the playoffs without Cabrera. Angels still compete without Trout.

Also, I thought they voted for the awards before the postseason? How the hell did Ibanez get a vote?

Some New York area writer must have lost a bet or something.

Did he really? That should be investigated.

When I heard that Brett Boone and BJ Surhoff for some idiotic, stupid reason got hall of fame votes, my confidence in people not wasting votes waned.

Cabrera was definitely the best offensive player, not sure whether he was the most valuable.

Deserving, none the less.

That is bizarre. Both dime a dozen players.

Unfortunately, not everyone is responsible with their votes.

Melky Cabrera is going to Toronto as well .

Imagine their lineup if he plays like he did this season

Definitely a smart gamble to take on their part. I'm not going to like seeing him face the Yankees.

I don't blame you especially since ex Yankees tend to always destroy them

Selig approved the deal. Jays look like the off-season winner this year, hopefully these guys stay healthy and bounce back.

According to an ESPN.com report, Jim Tracy and Jim Riggleman are two of the final names in the running for position left by John Farrell.

their also going the veteran route with the Manager. The article doesnt mention Manny Acta, who Ken Roesenthal (sp?) said is the favourite.

49% of YES Network sold to News Corporation/Ruppert Murdoch

Quote:
The New York Yankees, currently owners of 34% of YES, would also receive a cash payment from News Corporation of $400 million to $500 million in two tranches for allowing the deal to happen and extending its rights agreement. YES will continue to have the rights to the Yankees through 2042 and the network will pay the team some $350 million per year by the end of the rights deal.

Goldman Sachs’ private equity unit, which owns 30% of YES, is another huge winner here: it invested $335 million 11 years ago and will see its equity stake reduced initially to about 12% after selling the rest of its ownership to News Corporation. A group of old owners of the New Jersey Nets, led by Ray Chambers, will also share big in the proceeds. The investors in the end will probably make about five times their original investment, including the rich dividends they have received over the course of their ownership.

i like Gibbons, he seems like the kick in the ass that the Jays need right now. need to make sure someone is on Rasmus and Lawrie so they dont get lazy at the plate. AA gave him a glowing review and i trust him on that
