After a few test BaGM's with Columbus and Phoenix I am now really satisfied with the current one I am playing. (Modified sliders, All star AI, EA Rosters). My team is, of course, the Canadiens.
So we are 63 games into the 12-13 season, of which I have played ca 20 games and simulated the rest. I am third in the conference. The day before the trade deadline San Jose (who are 14th in the West) approached me with a deal I couldn't refuse.
Clowe and Murray are both UFA's, San Jose doesn't have a 1st round pick since they traded that to Ottawa for Alfredsson at the start of the season (Ottawa will most likely have two top 15 picks). Sharks also have some serious cap issues apparently since Logan Couture has been playing in the AHL all season (leading it in both goals and scoring).
Cole and Eller have already managed to score over 20 goals, with pretty much the rest of the top 6 being close to it. Carey Price has been phenomenal in the net. Price leads the league in wins, save percentage (.938), and shutouts (9).
Trying to trade Gionta at the trade deadline though, or at the draft since he still has some value.
You have to send Gomez down, he is just like wade redden in this game, too much money for too much crap
Heading into the 2022 trade deadline, the New Jersey Devils sit comfortably at 4th in the NHL, 2nd in the conference. St Louis sits 25th overall and Nashville 16th, so hopefully they can keep falling and give me 2 top-10 picks.
Jonathan Drouin is leading the league in points (94 in 63 games) with Connor McDavid trailing right behind (90 in 63). Zach Fucale leads the NHL in wins with 38 and shutouts with 10. Last years 2nd overall pick, Toby Schneider sits in 2nd place for rookie scoring with 46 points (27g,19a) in 63 games. In first place is Daniel Gosselin, a 2016 2nd rounder with Winnipeg (33g,19a,52p in 66games).
New Jersey has no plans to make any changes large or small. They are content with their current roster (and with only a few more years left before the GM mode is done) there is no rush to change anything.
* I should be done this GM mode by tomorrow, any ideas on who to do next? I've been Toronto, Chicago, Colorado, New York Islanders, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Edmonton, Florida, LA, Nashville, and Philly before... and I refuse to use Montreal just because I cannot stand them. Perhaps i'll just pick a team and do a fantasy draft.
The 2021-22 season has come to an end. New Jersey finished with a 50-26-6 record, 1st in the conference and 2nd in the league. Nashville finished in 23rd and St Louis in 25th giving New Jersey the 8th and 6th pick respectively.*
The Art Ross trophy will be presented to Connor McDavid(New Jersey) after tallying 110 points (43g,67a). The Maurice Richard trophy will be awarded to two players, Jarrett Fontaine(Dallas) and Toby Schneider(New Jersey). Schneider, last years 2nd overall pick, seems a lock for the Calder trophy as well after finishing his first season with 56 goals and 24 assists for 80 points.
The first round of the playoffs has been completed. New Jersey defeated Pittsburgh in 7 games to move on. Round two begins Friday April 28th, as the New Jersey Devils face off at home against the Florida Panthers.
* - Pending the draft lottery
UPDATE: The New Jersey Devils have been eliminated from the playoffs after losing four straight games to Florida. The Panthers will face Carolina, while the Anaheim Ducks will face Columbus.
UPDATE#2: The Stanley Cup finals will be fought between the............ Anaheim Ducks and the.......... Florida Panthers.
UPDATE#3: The Florida Panthers have defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets in 7 games to win the Stanley Cup.
The NHL draft lottery was won by the Calgary Flames who move up from 2nd to first. The Flames also hold the 3rd overall pick.
Breaking News: We have just learned that there has been a trade. From what we're told, the New Jersey Devils have traded the Nashville Predators 2022 1st round pick (8th) and their own 2022 1st round pick (25th) to the San Jose Sharks for their 2022 1st round pick (5th).
"On behalf of the New Jersey Devils, i'd like to congratulate the Florida Panthers on their championship. I would also like to thank the great city of Phoenix for their hospitality... and with the 5th pick in the 2022 draft, the New Jersey Devils select from the OHL, Jim Vaccari." - GM Lou Lamoriello
Jim Vaccari: 19, 6'0" 195lbs.
Pos - C
Ovr - 73
Potential - 4 yellow
"On behalf of the New Jersey Devils, i'd like to congratulate the Florida Panthers on winning the Stanley Cup. I'd also like to thank the city of Phoenix for their warmth and hospitality... With the 6th pick in the 2022 draft, the New Jersey Devils are so proud to select... from Russia... Alexei Antropov." - Head Coach Peter DeBoer
At a corssroads in my TML franchise. At the 2014 trade deadline and wondering if I should dangle Phaneuf and/or Kessel
I'm at 38-20-6 atm (2nd in the east, T-Bay is running away with it), but the off-season will be tricky with a lot of UFAs/RFA that need big raises:
Kessel
Phaneuf
Gardiner
Reimer
Colborne
Plus Ryan Murray's 3.5M will be on my roster next year
With them both being UFAs, this might be the best time to strike. I could survive without either of them (trading Dion would leave a Top 4 of MDZ-Gardiner and Liles-Gunner. St-Louis would replace Kessel on the 1st line, but i would still need a 2RW)
So, after 20 games, my Devils are 10-9-1. Neither one of our goalies has been great, so I decided to bolster our defense to help them out.
Philly offered me Briere and Kubina for a couple prospects who I didn't need, so I accepted. Then I traded Briere and Kubina to Edmonton for Petry and Klefbom. After that, I traded Volchenkov, Hejda, and a scrub prospect to Boston for Chara and Ryan Hollweg, who sucks but has the beset moustache I've ever seen:
****. Those trades really helped us out, we were sitting in fourth place for a long time... but suddenly after the trade deadline (where I made no changes), we **** the bed. Finished tied for ninth with 90 points.
Oh well. At least I get to blow this team up some more. None of my forwards impressed me... might be time to trade Kovalchuk.
Edit: Sent Ketlo down to the AHL (85 goalie) and he led the Albany Devils to a Calder Cup Championship!
Chara retired. Can't trade him now..

Approaching the 2023 Trade Deadline, the New Jersey Devils hold a record of 38-21-5 for 2nd place in the Eastern Conference. The Minnesota Wild, who's first round pick is held by New Jersey, sit at 9th in the West (17th) in the NHL. Connor McDavid leads the league in both goals (43) and points (97) after 64 games.
After hours of talking and discussing possible deals, the New Jersey Devils have come to agreements on two trades.
To Columbus: Justin Falk(34yo, 84ovr)
To New Jersey: 2023 1st round pick, 2023 3rd round pick
To Edmonton: Brendan Shinnimin(32yo, 81ovr), 2023 3rd round pick(NJ)
To New Jersey: 2023 1st round pick
They are 2 PLY, at the deadline he has 68 goals. Im going to let him finish the year on LA but i will trade for him at the draft. At the deadline his wingers have 20 goals combined.
Finished my first season with Ottawa, played about 70% of the games. The Eastern Conference was the closest I've ever seen it. At the end the 5th place team(Ottawa) had 93 points and the 11th place team(Boston) had 91 points. Even in the whole NHL the teams were fairly even with the best team getting 110 points and the worst 75 points. Injuries hurt me alot in the 2nd half of the year and are killing me in the 1st round, Gonchar(83) out for 6 weeks, Turris(82) out for 2 weeks and Silfverberg(80) out for 2 weeks. Alfie had 33 goals, Spezza led the team with 82 points, Zibanejad played really good for me after I called him up(29 points in 40 games). The calder trophy will be a battle between Silfverberg(60 points) and Lehner.
My lineup in the playoffs:
Michalek(84)-Spezza(89)-Zibanejad(69)
Daugavins(73)-Regin(76)-Alfie(84)
Da Costa(72)-Smith(76)-Condra(78)
Cowick(63)-Grant(67)-Cannone(67)
I am playing against the arch rival Toronto Maple Leafs, they took the first game 4-1, but we won the 2nd game 4-2, Spezza carried the team with a hat trick and an assist.
I traded away Anderson, Greening, Latendresse, Lundin, Bishop and Filatov and have acquired 3 first round picks, a 2nd rounder, 2 third rounders, Kreider and Pouliot.
