If you like stripes -- especially striped socks -- then you're gonna like the Leafs. If you don't like stripes, well, the Leafs probably aren't for you. But if you don't like stripes, why are you reading Uni Watch to begin with? Another case of an Original Six team that totally gets it.
Leafs is a spelling error. Regardless of believe, LEAFS is not a proper English word.
Ok, lets try again. For example lets take football player Ryan Leaf. If you met his family you would not call them the Leaves. You would correctly call them the Leafs.
The same goes for the Toronto Maple Leafs. You are not talking about them as they were Leaves as they are not named after them. The Maple Leaf Regiment is a proper noun, and therefore it is correct in calling them the Toronto Maple Leafs as they are named after a unit of people.
Maple Leafs is very much correct, no matter what trivial pursuit tells you.
