Guess what I want to complain about at work today?

If you guessed "lenders being late sending in figures," then you're either psychic or have read one of my other posts complaining about that very same habitual problem!

Oh well, helps me take my mind off a stupid personal thing that I'm falling for for the millionth time....

I hear ya man... been one of those days here too. 5 minutes after I walked in I was ready to call out the rest of the day. Just a bunch of absolute BS going on here, and my boss has no concept of how real businesses run and operate... and refuses to listen when I try to give him hints about it.

Hey just remember when you do everything you need to no one really cares but if you mess up in the most minute way you can expect hell for it.

I've learned that from my old job.

Meh, I'm not scared of him. I'll keep working as I please... Our sales numbers have shot through the roof. Just got off the phone with a lady who just spent more with me right now, and his entire month of September (I started in October)....

At 18 years old, you tell your boss to pound sand if that's your working environment unless you are making good money for that age - $13+.

That's one of the upsides of sales. Produce numbers and whether or not the boss likes you, you're guaranteed a job.

Yeah... and best part about it for me, is that it's not really a sales position, although my performance is based on sales figures. It's just me, and 2 other guys, that are starting this company up... Well, it's been around for a few years but the other 2 guys have paid no attention to it. The entire month of September they had like one sale... and they didn't even mail it out.

I was brought in to basically photograph more product, put it on the site, create online sales, and just manage the whole damn thing in literally every aspect... While they basically front the money. It's actually been a lot of fun so far... Hoping by the end of the 2012 first quarter to hire another employee, even if it's only in a part time role.

Hah... sadly, if the company ever becomes that big, I won't be there to see it. The 2 owners are so dirt cheap, they'd sooner ask me to take a pay cut before giving me a raise for performance... Even though we, and by we I really mean I, did 10K in sales today alone. Not to mention I set up a deal with a customer today, who plans on on spending a good $5-7K a month just herself... and we'll pay maybe $500 to provide the product that we'll sell her for that $5-7K...

Believe it or not, we sell fabric. We can buy it for say $1-5 by the yard from the vendors... and resell it anywhere from $20-150/yard. Under $10 to ship it anywhere in the States, ground service... unless it's an abnormally large order. What we normally do is list it at about $100 on the site, let it sit for a little while (knowing it won't sell)... then have a closeout sales and discount it anywhere from 10% to 50%.

Makes sense, sounds like a good business to start up.

Yeah, it's all about making it look good online in the pictures (surprisingly difficult to do, even with a professional grade studio room), and make the sales sound good. We don't get a ton of orders, but when we do... they're for a good change chunk of change.

Yeah, seems the key is reigning in someone like a costume designer.

None of the stuff we sell is for clothing, actually... more for curtains, chairs, **** like that.

Hell, I put 100 new products on the site this week that are nothing but curtain material... and we don't even have to buy any ourselves to load our inventory up with it. We'll pay $8/yard if someone orders it, and just call the vendor up and tell them where to ship it. Sold some yesterday to a lady for $50/yard...

It's more the interior designers we are looking to sell to.

Phew, busy day at work today. Legitimately worked nonstop from 8:30 to just a couple minutes ago without a break or even slacking off.

Now to just wait a few minutes and hope that a few figures come in before I just call it quits for the weekend.

I just hit the liquor store jackpot. Was browsing through the bourbon section, and found a craft brewery version of bourbon that I've been dying to try but they supposedly did not distribute outside the Denver region... They had it. Then, as you know... Goose Island has been sold to a macro. As I'm checking out with that bourbon and a sixer of Sierra Nevada Celebration... I ask if they've gotten any of the Goose Island stuff yet (first time ever that they have distributed to Georgia as of November 1st).... turns out they were literally unpacking their first shipment, and "only" had 4 packs of Matilda and Sophie. Had to wait a few minutes for them to punch them into their system, but well worth the wait.

My night is made.
