Well all of that was kind of good to hear. Maatta is known to be a slow starter, it was already visible in junior leagues in Finland. Second, it's 19 games into the season and Maatta seems to be at 3g+14a. Maatta played 19 games in the playoffs and there he had 6+17. It's still well within normal variance even if his start wasn't slow this time. I'm still hoping that this is the slow start.

As for the defensive game. I'm really hoping he gets his **** straight and fast and starts to dominate in the D-zone. That will translate to success in the offensive end also.

IMO he shouldn't be in the Subway Series. He's done so little with London and has been ineffective all year he'd probably be out of his league playing against the Russian's anyways.

Easy to see why SSM is a mess, again lol.

They've got some talent but too much stupidity.

Matt Rupert had a great weekend. Battled hard, got to the blue ice, won puck battles, played a lil pest and banged in 5 Gs. Not bad eh?

Liberati looked better to me than on Friday. Kid definitely has upside offensively. Hope he gets reg minutes and picks up the D side of the game quick. Dale traditionally doesn't give rook D a long leash, so take of ur end kid and ull get PT

I think Restoules PT is all but gone save for the odd game. Barring injury woes, suspensions or trades. If he didn't get in a game, 3 in 3 all against physical teams I'm not sure when he gets in

Question...Well not really because I think I already know the answer.

With the recent emergence of Miles Liberati, does that make Tyler Ferry more available then ever?

The way I see it, we NEEDED him when he was playing Defense.
We don't NEED him so much when he is playing forward.

What do you think?

I don't even think we "needed" him when he was back on D. Ferry is a good utility player. Valuable? That's debatable....I don't think he's valuable on D..but as a 13th forward and utility PK specialist..yes he is. That being said...he's expendable...but is his value elsewhere worth dealing him?

Ferry would not bring back any value in a trade and he's going nowhere. Now that Liberati has shown he's ready for regular minutes and PP time, I think this negates any possible trades for another defenceman. Unless there are indefinite injuries or suspensions, I think Mark stands pat with his D. Now if Ferry is used on wing, I think we see a 95 forward moved sooner rather than later for picks. I don't really have a problem with Ferry up front because he's actually a good defensive forward with speed, but I'm not sure I like him playing up there at the expense of Jammes and Pawley.

Defensive Forwards are a dime a dozen on the Knights roster though: M/R Rupert, Welychka, Ferry, Tierney, Horvat, Griffith.

Every Forward on the roster is taught defense first.

I doubt Ferry goes anywhere...good utility guy, good leader, can play wherever he's needed...I thin pawley or Jammes gets moved for picks, as they both need to be playing and won't get lots of ice here, especially if restoule ever gets playing time and liberati stays in the lineup. I like pawley and Jammes, but I think both would get more ice in another city, and mark is usually good at moving guys who deserve more than the knights have to offer.

I don't think moving either would break any hearts around the rink. Both are expendable in my opinion. Too many cookie cutters in the cupboard once again.

Game day!

Generals @ Knights

It is my hometown team versus my new town team.

Going to be a tough test this weekend. Hopefully they can continue the solid Team D n goaltending that they rode last weekend, last years team had different guys stepping up all year. Matt did it last week against some physical teams,, who will this week against some solid hockey clubs

Shwa, OS at home and Ktown on the road. OS plays Kit Saturfay nights well.

Hes a good defensive forward, plays with a bit of a chip on his sholder and probably would've thrown some big hits around. I dunno.

Down 3-0 going into 3rd not ideal but they net 3 goals to tie it and Griffith snipes the OT winner on PP.
2 too many men penalties late for the Gens- ouch
Liberati showed some real offensive upside.
Domi was real determined in the 3rd and OT as we're many knights.
Patterson comes in off the bench and does well.

Is Ferry now in tough to keep a spot?

I'm starting to think the Ferry will be moved before the trade deadline. He's been taking far too many penalties lately, and we have enough younger players who are capable of doing everything he does and more. Besides that, if we do add players at some point, somebody's gotta go.

Remember that Dale's involved with this year's team. If he could bring Colin Martin back, he would. Ferry's going nowhere unless an OA falls into the Knights' lap and then Ferry is given the Logan Hunter/Rick Steadman treatment.

Was at the game tonight, amazing last period of play by the Knights. Not sure where that team was in the first 40mins. Such a great atmosphere after the tying goal and gwg.

Griffith was terrible for the majority of the game and manages to get 3? Pts. LOL

That's been Griffith's M.O for the last 6 weeks. Shows so little effort if the puck isn't within 10ft of him. Drives me nuts.

Domi, Broadhurst and Patterson won London that game ....

Maatta may have played the worst game I've ever seen in my 6 years as a season ticket holder. And we've had Martinelli and Martin back there.. Mark should ask the Gens for a pick in return for Olli's performance.

I was at the game last night as well. For the first 40 minutes I was thinking "Oh well, it's one of those nights where they just get stomped, might as well buy more over-priced beer."

But in the third the crowd got fired up right after the first hit of the period and it started from that point onward. Max Domi is a very exciting hockey player to watch. He will be an NHL star one day, no doubt about it.

Seth Griffith was lack-luster, but good on him for coming thru with the clutch OT goal. I really like the line combo of 16, 17, 18. When they start firing on all cylinders it will be fun to watch.

Did anyone else see Anderson break that one guy's arm before the goal? It looked like his wrist was just dangling as he scrambled towards the Generals bench. I could be mistaken though, but I hope he's OK.

As for Tyler Ferry - He's not going anywhere.

Quote:
Before the game, the Knights filed their list of protected overage players and there wasn’t any surprises. OHL teams are allowed to protect four players. The Knights protected three players on their roster, goalie Kevin Bailie and defenceman Tyler Ferry and Tommy Hughes. Their fourth protected player is goaltender Mike Houser. Any movement in the free agent department would require the Knights drop one of those players.

Just because hes protected doesnt mean they cant move him or not dress him.

I posed the question because with the seeming emergence of Liberati as a Dman and our depth up front he should be in tough to get minutes IMO. Esp as the kids continue to get used to the O.
Liberati has shown something we could use on the back end, a little offensive spark and could be used on PP
I guess the ? is does Dale play Ferry over Jammes, Pawley and or Restoule. Elie and Platzer should have reg spots IMO

Ferry's greatest value is as an insurance policy because he can play anywhere adequately. I think he does play ahead of the rooks and at least until the new year when the Knights get all of their players back from various tournaments, but if the Knights do bring in reinforcements for the stretch run, there just might not be any room left for Ferry at that point.

I do feel hell be around, esp as a fill in come xmas when Harrington/ Matta are away. After that Im not sure he wont get passed on the depth chart by any additions Mark makes or by one of the rooks. Unless a few are moved for reinforcements.
Liberati shouldnt sit anymore for him to get a spot on D unless he regresses

Zadorov may not be around either at Xmas, better to have some experienced D-men around,
Raine,Hughes and kids would be a tall order
Cant see the Knights moving Ferry until after the break

I think most agree about the timing HL. Im not sure hell even get moved, but Im also not sure come Jan hell be a reg with this current lineup. Maybe hes just a valuable on the team (if not dressing) as any value in a trade may bring back. Good insurance policy. Well have to see if Mark wants to upgrade the OA spot or not.
