We could pick up a better option.

common bobby cox, you know you want to come out of retirement and manage this team for 2 seasons. we need a competent manager that can steal a game or 2 for us if we ever make it to the playoffs. i mean look what buck showalter almost did for the O's.

i'm fine with JA haap as the #5 guy. also i believe if the trade does go through mark should be the ace because of his ability to eat innings consistently and take pressure off guys like JJ, morrow, ricky. even if he delivers a ~4ERA

Long reliever.

Two situations... comes in if the starter gets injured/smacked around early in the game and needs to go for 3innings + of relief work.

Spot starter if someone goes down, maybe a double header/rainout something of that nature.

Think Carlos Villanueva... the 2013 version, or Scott Downs circa 2008

Thx. Happ could be that guy if we sign Marcum I would think.

I'm guessing Charlie V is asking for too much $$

Marcum is a vastly superior pitcher to Happ.

I'm not saying we 'need' to go after Marcum, but he would be a profound upgrade over Happ (and I actually like Happ and think he's a serviceable #5) because I genuinely believe Marcum can be a decent #2 or #3 starter on a solid ball club.

One of them will be able to fill that hole.

Or if you're a big dreamer... T. D'Arnaud

If it is comparable, it only makes sense to have Bonifacio in the two hole with his superior speed/base stealing ability and Melky in the five hole with his superior SLG.
That's a sound argument, Boni seems to strike out more and really doesn't draw to many walks, I'm hoping he can prove me wrong because I honestly(as I've said before) see him as more than just a utility guy.

Gotta stick with the gut though and say he's our #2. Melky that is

What about Scott Feldman? I've seen pieces looking at him and wondering if he could be the next Brandon McCarthy (talented guy who finally has things click for him after struggling)

Or see if the Rangers would take Arencibia (and maybe a mid-tier pitching prospect) for Ogando

That OBP was mostly BA driven. He's not a big walker but he is a guy that makes plenty of contact and can hit for average. I would expect him to hit .280-.300 with .330 OBP or so and perhaps 15 HR with average defense in LF. Could see his power going up a little playing in RC but we'll see.

A huge upgrade over Thames/Davis and whatever else they were trolling (no, not trotting, they were trolling!) last season.

Jays have really become a solid balanced team that will rely on OBP and speed game while maintaining their power.

Pretty amazing that this can be a topic of discussion in November, and both sides have good points.

This team is deeper than our WS Drought.

Our team is crazy right now. Even our bench is looking deep. The battle for 2b is the only real question at this point.

Yeah I listed him as a potential option earlier. Won't cost much, will come on a 1 year deal you can either have him in the pen or start or you could do that with Happ (or start him in AAA).

Sure but I don't know if thats economical.

Marcum is going to command 3 years probably 7 mill per (give or take). What he gives you over Happ as a #5 is not worth the difference in salary, and long term committment.

I'd rather go after a "6th" starter type keep the commitment low and see what the rotation looks like before making adjustments.
