Well there's Dustin McGowan, Cory Wade and Mike McCoy still on the 40 man. No idea if any of them get taken off but I wouldn't be surprised.

Has there ever been reports, i'm just genuinely curious as to way a solid player/potential all-star would be tossed around so often.
Apparently he didnt address his teammates. They were also mad that he said 'he took a drug without knowing' or something like that.

Are we allowed to ask gambling questions on this thread?

Does anybody know where you can bet on the amount of wins the Jays will get?

Wade/McGowan/McCoy/Wilson are all candidates to be DFA'd. Jeffress/Carreno/Crawford as outside shots to be DFA'ed though not likely.

Wade and McGowan make the most sense right now. McGowan would likely clear and doubt he would elect FA either as it would opt him out of his contract and Jays can promise to add him on the 40 man once the season start and extra spots are opened up with Perez/Drabek/Hutch hitting the 60 man DL.

I want to like him, but I just can't. As you can tell by my name who my team is, and the last 3 years I just can't like the sharks.

Yeah those are 3 I think are locks. I guess you could include Wilson if AA doesn't have a catcher trade set up already. I forgot Hech was on our 40 man which clears a spot.

He should write a letter to Jeffrey Loria, not Bud Selig.

What is Selig going to do, say, "sorry, the owner I approved for your team is incompetent, I'm going to overturn the deal"

"oh, and by the way, this will be a crushing blow for the Blue Jays franchise and fanbase...HAHA!"

Looks like I'm in the minority here but I'm not totally crazy about the Melky signing.

Seems like a bit much for a guy that we don't know what he is clean. Also was this really a necessary signing? I think that Davis and Bonafacio was a more than adequate platoon and the money probably could have been better spent elsewhere.

Well if there is one fanbase that Selig is willing to crush it is probably this one.

The Blue Jays represent a market of around 30 million people.

I don't think so.

He's still going to target a pitcher, this you can be certain.

As for the signing, Melky pre-PEDs was still a better LFer than Rajai is currently. Plus at 2 years, it's not going to hamper the Jays future in any way. This could turn out to be a big steal imo.

Wow! Who hits where now? A good problem to have.

Here is mine:

1 - Reyes
2 - Cabrera
3 - Lawrie (some "traditionalists" will disagree)
4 - Bautista
5 - EE
6 - Rasmus
7 - Lind
8 - Arencibia
9 - Bonifacio

This way you have 3 guys who can hit for a high average, followed by 5 power bats (Lind and Rasmus inconsistent though) and a speedy guy 9th followed by 3 high avg guys and so on. I actually really like the look of that team.

Why do people care that AA overpaid for Cabrera, by what, 3 million dollars? Welcome to free agency. You're acting like it's your money. Obviously ownership is willing to go balls to the wall, just be happy that this is actually happening.

Melky is an obvious upgrade over Boneface and Daivs in LF. You'll come to this realization in April.

May have been with the Jays owners of the past. But if Rogers is willing to spend now, 8m really isn't all that much and the Jays can still afford to sign/trade for other big ticket players.

I definitely think they needed an everyday LF. I think having an everyday good player is better than having a fringe platoon. It deepens the team as well on the bench.

I think we have to see what else they do. Do they spend more pitching strengthening the much needed pitching depth or does this move take it all up? It's probably an answer we'll have to wait for.

Agreed on both. This is baseball... there is no cap. Rogers is loaded.. I"m just happy they're finally giving Toronto a team to really get behind.
