In your opinion, could he do it? The NHL seems like a pipe dream if he can't.
It would be interesting to see him with a bigger C (something we don't have) and winger. A player like Versteeg benefited playing with larger players Ladd, Buff and Bolland. In many situations it seems like players like Rodin need to be put in a proper situation before they figure out their niche.

Yes, bigger linemates would help. As would getting him off the Wolves IMO. But more to the point, Rodin's success depends upon his versatility. It's the reason he gets taken over Tatar or Pirri in the draft. Those two are more focused on offense, while Rodin has the traits to be a 2way player... Or at least, I hope that was the reasoning behind taking him at that spot.

I think that was the reasoning. The scouting report was he has the potetnial to be a top 6 forward if he can put it all together in the NA game but has the checking ability to fall down to lines 3/4.

We saw Rodin with Schroeder and Kassian in the game before last (IIRC), and it's not the first time either. Granted, he has looked good with them before so hopefully he'll pot one sooner rather than later and get his confidence going again.

He was also tried on the PK early in the season. Since then I don't think Arniel has used him there, which is a shame.

In all reality it's very unlikely Rodin makes the NHL. I think we should just be focusing on him being good in the AHL

Hey Wolf-fans.

Game 1 of a back-to-back with Peoria starts tonight at 5pm PST.

Will be getting home sometime around 5, but will check my PMs ASAP so feel free to PM me if you need a stream. They've been kinda hit or miss lately but it looks like there will be a stream tonight so tune in!

Go Wolves Go!

PS: If anyone is able to post lines for tonight, please do! I never figure it out until about halfway through the 1st.

(First post on these boards!)
Y'know
I've been watching the last couple wolves games.
I can honestly say I'm really not missing the NHL at the moment.
The pacing is actually quite a bit better then I would have thought.
Not to mention the commentators for the Wolves are great.

But what is Arneil thinking!? I don't remember him being THAT bad in Columbus.
Is this some weird system he has? I can't really figure it out.

Interesting that the Wolves are trying 4 forwards on their 2nd PP unit: Rodin - Schroeder - Kassian - Connauton, didn't see who the 5th guy was, might've been Gordon?

Wolves had a good shift in the Rivermen's end near the end of the 1st, a chance or two but still 1-0 Peoria.

Pinner looking good out there btw.

My Wolves standouts this year in no particular order have been

Kassian
Pinizzotto
Connauton

and to a lesser degree

Schroeder
Lack
Tanev

and Ive been really discouraged by Joslin and Rodin

Welcome to HF!

Indeed, it's great to watch some fast-paced hockey again. And agreed about the commentators - haven't heard many good ones since Brian Munz called Moose games a few years back.

Just curious to know what your thoughts are about this, if you can elaborate?

Lines Tonite

Gordon Mallet Desbiens

Thought Mallet had a strong first period. Made a nice set up that led to an open chance. Drew a penalty and looked solid on his skates.

Haydar Ebbett Pinizotto

Pinizotto had some great chances. Probably the best player on the team. Line created some good chances

Kassian Schroeder Sterling

Very little happening here . Schroeder badly lost the face off on the first goal.

Sweatt Friesen Rodin

Friesen does not look ready. Rodin giving it a good effort.

Defense

Partners are getting mixed up.

Connauton is playing a lot but play seemingly has fallen off from earlier in the season

Other playing
Tanev
Miskovic
Matheson
Sauve
Hunt

Andersson listed in lineup but don't think he has played.

Good interview, hope he gets a chance with the Nucks after the lockout. He's deserved it with his play.

The stats sheet has it as 8-6 in favour of chances for the Wolves, 9-8 edge in faceoffs and 6-4 in turnovers, 7-3 lead in hits.

Kind of disappointing that these stats aren't published on game sheets afterwards...

Well, I'm not a huge expert on coaching but IMO he seems to be jumbling the lines around quite a bit. It as if he's thinking to himself "Oh, that particular line is looking great. but what if I were to add...uh...Desbeins there? Yeah! He's supposed to be tough!
As soon as line starts to work he changes it.

Can the Canucks request Haydar be released or traded....he is terrible.

To have our prospects play under his "leadership" is a tragedy.

Selfish player who's best days are long behind him.

Friesen sticking up for his teammate and fighting, it was a draw but he looked decent in it

Yeah, I haven't been very enthused with his line combo's so far this season... he hasn't given that much time for the lines to really gel.

Rodin just got dumped on an interference play, big PP coming up for the Wolves. Gotta score!

Love Friesen sticking up for Rodin on a dirty hit. Cundari is a decent fighter if I recall correctly, and Alex did well.

Also, ease up on Haydar. His best days are behind him but calling him lazy or selfish is completely uncalled for. He's there to provide experience and some powerplay skill. All the Wolves seem to think he's a great guy.

Rodin - Schroeder - Kassian - Sweatt - Connauton on that 2nd unit, looked much better than the 1st unit. Still 2-0 though...

If Haydar is crap, Ebbett isn't far behind

Mallett is having pretty good game

Wolves' passing game is off tonight... probably the rust from a whole week off.

Agreed Mallet has looked good.
