I appreciate why some people believe PW has passed Boro.

While there is no questioning Boro's work ethic, he just lacks the skills to be much more than a 6/7 guy. For Boro there is no shame in being on the third pairing, which is where he will be if he continues to be a physical, hard working, low risk player.

On the other hand, PW has all the skills and with the added muscle on his frame has become a significantly better defender. PW's play has him headed to Ottawa sooner than later IMO.

Cowen's injury only enhances the opportunity for PW, and should Lundin struggle, then Boro or Benoit will be given an opportunity for the sixth spot.

I hope Boro develops into the physically punishing Dman we've been missing since Volchenkov left.

So far, Patrick Wiercioch impresses with his poise. He is skating well. He shoots the puck. And more importantly, he has apparently been really solid defensively.

If Bingo offense wasn`t so anemic, his assist total would be higher or should I say more than 0.
