They could have done a lot worse than Meathead. At least we won't have to see Kyle headline a UFC event.

Just as I thought. I think really the only two legit options were Meathead and Barry and with Barry already having a fight on that card might as well just leave that as is.

Was the only viable option and a step up in competition for Mitrione.

I like that fight and that card just keeps getting better and better.

I really hope no one gets injured.

UFC President Dana White says that if Georges St-Pierre beats Carlos Condit this Saturday at UFC 154 in Montreal, then it will be a GSP-Anderson Silva Superfight in May.

Everyone seems to be trying real hard to jinx GSP this weekend

With the way Anderson and GSP are, I doubt we'll see this fight in May if GSP wins.

Probably not, but it is still 6+ months away and with GSP missing 18 months you gotta figure he's going to want to be more active in the near future. Anderson says he doesn't want to fight again until the end of next year, but that can very easily change.

He's making $10,000 to show in the UFC, he would've made far more than that headlining a Strikeforce card against Cormier. The guy's 34 years old, it's not as if he's got his whole career ahead of him to build himself up.
Valid point. I think his stock would plummet hard after a Strikeforce loss though (not that it's that high in the first place), and I'm not so sure he'd make top dollar for the fight either. If he was offered it, I'm sure he would have accepted.

True. All you gotta do is this and Silva will fight.

Looks like Melendez has had his last fight in Strikeforce. His shoulder is still bothering him so he won't be fighting on the January card.

Sounds to me like Gil has a case of the "I'm tired of fighting for Strikeforce, get me to the UFC asap" blues.

That's what it seems like to me as well. Cesar Gracie is already talking about him going to the UFC. By not fighting on the January card, he can make his UFC debut a lot sooner now. UFC might not want to eliminate a top contender this quickly but a Melendez/Alvarez fight sounds good to me.

That would be some terrible matchmaking. Lots of people don't even know who these two guys are. Have them both fight established UFC guys to hopefully get their name out there, and then go from there.

Gray Maynard/Gil Melendez sounds good. Lightweight is so deep.

Silva holding his own presser right now. He's fighting GSP next if GSP wins and maybe Jones next. So the GSP fight is legit if he can get past Condit.

I'm afraid this could really mess with his head. I have always gotten the feeling that he wanted no part of Anderson, and I think knowing that if he wins he will have to fight Anderson could affect/hinder his performance tonight.

Well, that's one PPV I definitely won't be purchasing. I'm not opposed to women's fighting, it's entertaining to an extent, but I'm certainly not paying to watch it. No chance. I can live with the fight being a co-main event, but the main event of a PPV is really, really pushing it IMO.

For me it would depend on the other fights on the card. Dana is infatuated with Ronda but him and Lorenzo aren't dumb. I doubt they think she can carry a UFC PPV card like Jones at UFC 152 or GSP this past weekend. I think they would stack the card and in that case I would spend money on it.

Main Event? No way. If this was anyone but Rousey, this would never happen. There's only 4 people well 3 since Brock is gone for good that can truly carry a PPV soley by name GSP, Silva, and Jones. Unless they stack the PPV this could flop big time.

Dana's obsession with Rousey is a bit creepy in my eyes but that's just me.
