Messi can run left and right and finish off tic-tac-toe plays for the rest of his career, Ronaldo can try his fake Ronaldo (the real one) tricks and Juninho free kicks too. None of them has what Zlatan has. He`s more than just an ordinary player.
(I don't expect anyone but him to get that joke and that's fine)
I did like him though. Especially when he got really pissed that one time, threw his shin guards in the tunnel, and yelled out what I assume were Norwegian curse words. This was after a questionable red card though...
It's an amazing goal, but I think people are being absolutely ridiculous when they say it's "the best goal in the history of soccer" - I dont think it's even remotely close to that.
The amazing thing about it is his intelligence and presence of mind to even attempt such a thing, he realized the goalie was so far out that the entire goal was empty, brilliant. But after the high IQ bit, the rest is just execution, I dont think it's as big a deal as people are raving about, as remarkable as it was.
When you say, "best goal ever", you're setting the bar kindof high!
Agree with everything said above. It was great technique and awareness and quite extraordinary to even attempt such a move from that far out. But best goal ever scored? Never. I'd even say that Rooney's goal against City last season was better and Falcao's overhead kick is pretty damn good too.
Dammit Adebayor... Tottenham has a goal waved off because Gallas was offsides (the correct call). A few moments later Adebayor scores to make it 1-0 in about the 11th minute. Then the moron takes a red card around the 18th minute, which of course led to an Arsenal goal in the 24th or so. For what its worth, it was a great header by Mertesacker, so a forward being sent off might not have made a huge impact on that play, but the game has been totally lopsided ever since. Pretty ****ing frustrating.
I just felt like it had to be said. Is the game still going on?
Yup. Just went to the half. Tottenham gave up goals at around the 40th and 45th minutes. Tottenham was getting a lot of pressure in the first 18 minutes or so. Game did a total 180 once Adebayor was sent off. Possession is probably like 75-25 Arsenal (if not more lopsided) since, and the defense cracked down the line there. Lloris made some great saves in there too, which makes you wonder how bad this really could be. If they had made it to half at 1-1, maybe even 2-1, it would have been interesting to see how it would play out. Would give Tottenham a chance to adjust and figure out how they want to play down a man (personnel or formation wise maybe). But by now... unless someone on Arsenal does something stupid, or something unexpected happens, this one is likely not turning around anytime soon.
I've paid no attention to the Premier League at all the last couple of weeks because of not having power for a week and a half, among other things. But with no other sports to watch pretty much I might finally go whole-hog on it now. This was a good game to come back to (especially since I only turned it on at 0-1 just after the red card lol).

If you're an Arsenal fan, that was the perfect time to turn it on. If you're not really a fan of either team, the first 40 minutes or so would have been good to watch (in its entirety). The dynamic of how much pressure Tottenham had and then the sudden shift in momentum made for an interesting first half.
At this point I'm still only a quasi-Arsenal fan but I don't really root for anyone else in the Premier League (the longer this lockout lasts though I might get more die-hard) so yeah definitely a good time to turn it on for me lol.
4-1, looks like the horse is really out of the barn now.
I'm having a Devils/Kings game 6 style flashback. Its been to the point where even at 2-1 of this match, you could tell by the way it was going that it was over. And then the 3rd came in. And now the 4th came in, etc. This is miserable.
The problem is that soccer is really the only sport I have right now. The Jets suck, the Mets suck even when in-season, Red Bulls season is done, I love basketball but have no team to root for in the NBA, and PGA tour season doesn't start for almost 2 months. Stupid Adebayor
lol that's a good comparison actually, that third goal before the half did have similarities to the third power play goal as to when it came and how much of a backbreaker it was...if this was Game 6 Bale just pulled a Henrique and got a late one to get a tad closer. Tottenham's trying though, they were too close to getting a third. Still 15+ minutes left.
I'm still envious I missed the 7-5 cup game though, I really need to find highlights of it somewhere. Maybe on YES since they have the Arsenal programming there.

Always a possibility. Aside from the Nets, there isn't any "new" sports coverage they have going on. No other games to show, aside from the few college games they show, but still. Plenty of open programming.
Would have been really nice if Bale could have put that one in to make it 4-3...
