Oh, and looks like Reyes will lose about $8M via higher taxes... ouch.

Haha, just screwed that up there. I know they were together in LA, too, but I thought they had gotten dealt there together.

Jays sign Melky, lineup looking pretty stacked.

AL East is going to be ridiculous next year. Jays, Rays, Yankees, and Orioles are all going to be contenders for the playoffs and will probably gobble up both wild card slots amongst them. My guess is that the Rays are going to be on the outside looking in while Toronto, Baltimore, and New York get in, thus making the AL East the first baseball division to have three teams get in during a single postseason.

Not really

Average glove and before this year a good/solid not star player

Lets see how he performs without the drugs

Let's see but he's a good player at 300 and 15-20 bombs for 8M.

He's a career .284, with 2 monster years inflating it. In one of those years, he was suspended. Do the math...

And his career OPS ain't anything special.

Kyuji Fujikawa visited Chicago on Thursday to get a tour of Wrigley Field. Fujikawa has now visited the Diamonbacks and Cubs and is scheduled to make stopovers with the Dodgers and Angels.

Maybe the Cubs can deal Garza for a top prospect and/or picks.

Not that I'd say no to him, but I'd expect him to land in either one of those LA stadiums at the rate they've both been spending. Would prefer to not get into a bidding war with them for a 32 year old relief pitcher.

If they get him, has to mean they are moving Marmol before the season right?

As bad as he was in the first half last year, his overall numbers for the second half were great last year. I'd rather just keep him, than paying more than half his salary to pitch elsewhere. Maybe he can rebound, and you can then flip him at the deadline for some prospects. Relievers are always overpaid for at the deadline by contenders.

I'm fine either way but I think we need to remember how much better he was as a setup man, those two could be nails together but if aren't getting a legit good player back then we must keep him.

I don't think you'll get a good player for him now. I think you'll get a career Minor Leaguer / AAAA guy at best, and still have to pay more than 50% of what he's owed this year. Just hang onto him...

Can't stand Marmol. Thousand-dollar stuff, ten-cent location.

Yeah, not giving that arm away, let's see where he is at in July. However, if it is either him or Fujikawa, get Fujikawa and do what you gotta do. I love the potential of the two with Russell for the 7th/8th/9th. Something simple like that, lock down bullpen, that could spring up a surprise year for the club.
