Since Grigorenko and Armia have been done, I'll do (IMO) our top D prospect: mark Pysyk. Top 4 defenseman. 30-40 point potential, mostly assists, while playing shutdown minutes.

Joe Morrow is likely the Pens best prospect. I'd say he will be a 35-45 point defenseman in his prime while being an average defender. I think for the most part, he will make his money on the PP. Certainly, with his shot from the point and how decisive he is, he has a max upside of around 50 or so points.

As far as comparisons, I'd say he has some qualities of Alex Edler/Duncan Keith. Though obviously those two are way more polished at this point.

His realistic potential is elite number 1 goalie, imo. Upside is franchise Lundqvist-like.

Where did you read that Minnesota was targeting Lindholm?

The best part is Beaulieu scoring 60pts and still just being a #3 defenseman, lol. Man, the Habs must be stacked.

The Habs used all of last year's revenue to clone Karlsson twice.

From what I heard, there were two other teams that had him in their top 5, and there were scouts who said that Lindholm was the steal of the draft. I don't see how that's a reach. A surprise? Yes, but only because we don't know everything the scouts know, and are limited to players we see or what we're told.

Zack Kassian

He'll probably end up being a 50+ point second line winger but could carve out a niche as a tough third/ fourth liner or ascend to the level of one of the game's best power forwards (PPG). He's a toss-up.

I'll try to find some links for you, the GM was questioned why he didn't trade down, and said after their due dilligence there was no way they could have traded down and taken him and Minnesota was thought to of been for sure going to take him

Pierre says he knows two teams had Lindholm in their top 5, so two other teams rated Lindholm as highly as Anaheim did

By that logic, only 1/10th of the teams thought he deserved to be picked there. I'd call that a reach

I think you're the one reaching then. Having 3 teams considering him in their top 5 does not exclude the other 27 teams from considering him around where he was picked.

Edit: I'd also say that if even one other team sees him that high, there is obviously something there they like. As a late riser, there were going to be teams that saw more of him, and thought more highly of him vs. other teams who might have seen him earlier but paid more attention to other prospects. The bottom line is that multiple sources saw him in the top 5, and a couple of scouts felt he was a steal at 6th overall(seems a stretch, but it's still quite a statement). I don't see how that makes him a reach. In fact, I think if the scout rankings had him higher, you wouldn't consider him a reach at all, even though teams do their own scouting anyway. You're calling him a reach because of what you think others think.

Yep agreed. I can't wait to see Morrow play in Pittsburgh.

It really depends on your definition of "reach". Bob McKenzie's list is I believe an average ranking taken from 10 NHL scouts and Hampus was at #15 on his final list. Most publications had him around 10-17 mostly that I saw. We don't really have any other ways of finding out NHL scouts opinions other than rumors or if they say it directly and as far as I know there haven't been quotes from other NHL scouts saying they had Hampus in their top 5 prospects.

Anyways, not like that should matter anyways. If he was a reach or not at the time has no bearing on anything...he sure looks great so far. I was hoping he'd fall to the Hawks at 18 but never expected him to go that high. However, he certainly looks like he was worth it.

For the Habs, it starts and ends with Galchenyuk. I think he can regularly hit the 65-75 point range at 1st line centre, with a couple of seasons going in the 80s, topping out at 90-ish. He has a complete tool set and a good attitude.
