Karlsson played today a very, very good game. But still his team Jokerit lost. He was paired with Eronen and the results are clear. Keep the pair together.

NOV 17, 2012: JOKERIT @ SAIPA 3 - 4
G 2, A 1, P 3, +/- +1, S 9, PIM 0, TOI 31:56!

Karlsson after 17 games: G 5, A 10, P 15, +/- +11, S 134, PIM 12, average TOI 25:32.

Highlights when they arrive.

Kyle Turris today.

NOV 17, 2012: HPK @ KÄRPÄT 1 - 2 OT
G 1, A 0, P 1, +/- +0, S 5, PIM 2, TOI 20:35

Kyle after 13 games: G 4, A 5, P 9, +/- +8, S 61, PIM 16, average TOI 20:00.

KARLSSON! 31 MINUTES. 2 goals and 3 points, now dats the guy we know. I'm pretty sure he leads the league in shots now? 134 in 17 games is just ridiculous.

You got a problem with that? Your post makes no sense, how is it ok being related to what you quoted. I could have said same thing but with defence instead of the goalie.

Stop tryin' to act up, kid.

Greening is really dominating the Al-Bank liga in Denmark (since his first jetlegged game and 0-6 loss). This nights game was a 3-0 win for Aalborg Pirates over another top team SønderjyskE and with 2 assist for Greening.
The line Månsson-Greening-Taupio is really wrecking havock among the other teams.

But also when it comes to spectators he is starting to draw people to the ice. Aalborg had a crowd of 4.212 for this home game and that is a lot for being Denmark.
(He will now longer be the lone NHL in Denmark, since Kevin Klein from Nashville will play for Herlev Eagles, and who knows more could follow).
Such a shame that tax problems kept Peter Regin for playing for Herning Blue Fox. It could have been fun for them to meet "center-against-center"!

According to this article in Finnish http://www.mtv3.fi/urheilu/jaakiekko...iin-sairaalaan HPK's defenseman Aleksi Laakso lost his consciousness for several minutes but was able to move and talk normally when he was carried to the locker room. He was taken to a hospital and it seems he got a concussion and MRI didn't show any serious injury.

There's an interesting article in the Finnish hockey site Jatkoaika. http://www.jatkoaika.com/Kolumni/kat...-kasvot/108103

Here's a rough translation of the article.

Karlsson on the Roof's Two Faces

Jokerit's Erik Karlsson is SM-liiga's most superior player. That is if the Norris winner is interested in playing. Defensively the Swede is even more lazy than Teemu Pulkkinen [Detroit's 4th round draft pick in 2010] at the moment.

Erik Karlsson showed Saturday in Lappeenranta why he is too good for SM-liiga if he just wants to be. He made the visiting team's opening goal on PP and made the game even with his splendid important short-handed goal, a great individual effort. Add an assist to Ilari Filppula's PP goal and the Swede had to hear praise from the reporters after the game so much that his ears turned red.

Fantastic efforts offensively don't tell everything about the game of the Norris winner. Defensively Karlsson's attitude is really bad and he almost pisses his own ankles with his slack defensive play.

When he came to Finland, Karlsson dominated in his first couple of games because his attitude was right and he wanted to show the organization that signed him that he is the best in the world. Okay, he hasn't played his best in Finland yet but in SM-liiga his 95 percent makes him the best defenseman of the League.

Now his level of performance is no more than 75 percent. That is of course enough for the plays he made on Saturday but on the other side of the coin are mishaps like on Thursday's local rivarly game.

In his first games he played as offensively as he did now but he also skated back to his own defensive zone using his economic skating style. Now he goes on the offensive as before but when the Bulgarian drop-pass to Filppula on the offensive blue line fails, the Norris winner lifts his back and watches how his dman partner Esa Lindell tries to decide wether to block the shot or block the pass in the ensuing 2 on 1 situation.

Single mistakes happen to everyone but when the above mentioned situation is repeated during the same shift, there's something more going on than negligence. If Teemu Pulkkinen is quicker to defend after turnover than Karlsson, then something is wrong big time.

Karlsson is a superstar and a natural talent who's not interested with his team's playing style. But attitude is not about that, it's about playing for the team. I hope no-one from the young Jokerit's defensemen tries to model himself after Karlsson's attitude, they should about almost everything else.

Even though Hannu Virta [Jokerit's assistant coach] wanted to make a learning video about Karlsson's playing style right after the first game, one should edit something out of it. For example Karlsson hates to go to pucks that are dumped in on the defensive zone. He rather tries to block the lead forechecker with his spins and wonders at the end how, for example Anssi Löfman or Jari Sailio, just skates past him and takes the puck.

Additionally the Swede seems to avoid taking contact and seems to be afraid of spinning pucks from slap-shots. This of course is explained by that he really doesn't want to be injured before the NHL season starts. It's understandable, for his yearly salary is many times over the whole player budget of SaiPa [the team Jokerit lost this Saturday].

Virta should also wonder has he given Karlsson too free reins. The Swede plays about 25 minutes a game and that is surely one of the reasons why he slips in his defensive game. Jokerit has a lot of injured players and Karlsson needs a lot of playing time to function properly but there are limits to everything. If the defenseman wants to be on the offensive all the time and doesn't defend shouldn't he be a forward then?

It's human that Karlsson, who's used to NHL glamour, has hard time to be excited in every November away game and even the best players have bad games. However, it would be very important for the hockey product and Jokerit that there'd be more good games than bad games.

On a good night "Karlsson on the Roof" is as it says in the song, "Världens bästa Karlsson." [The best Karlsson in the world.] And everyone wants to watch that Karlsson.

Awesome. Now everyone comparing Karlsson to Pietriangelo will say Karlsson is lazy and Alex busts his ass.

It's really too bad we don't have the European soccer tradition of singing and chanting throughout games here in North America.

That would be an amazing song to sing during a game when Karlsson is dominating (ie. every game).

If the writer had watched Karlsson play in Ottawa, he would also notice those tendencies (economic skating). Whenever Karlsson heads back towards his net, he glides slowly, takes a peek behind him to see if anyone is being a try hard, if there is, Karlsson gets in the way. At important times, he wont' do that since he's one of the best skaters.

They just jealous and expect a Swede to play his best for em(critics) to be considered real good in eyes of the finns.

He has highest +/- and is almost PPG. What more do you want from a defense man

Interview with Spezza after yesterdays game in Ambri:
http://heshootshescoores.com/jason-s...ero-difficile/
Its all in italian but if you listen to the audio file (ASCOLTA L’INTERVISTA AUDIO) you'll got the original answers, although his name is Spezza, he didn't answered italian .

Today we saw a very good game of Jason, for my opinion the best since he plays here, he's very dominant now, handels the puck perfectly. Ok. we lost, but its at least one Point won, lost "only" the Shot out. Jason attracted much more attention than Zetterberg.

Not on Youtube yet. There are a couple of places where you could see them. Can you see them or are they country locked somehow?

For those wondering, Karlsson-on-the-roof is a very popular kids character in Sweden and in Russia.
Here's Russian version of Karlsson:

Yea, the second one.

WOOOOOOOW. What a goal by Karlsson on the second one. A defender getting a breakaway on the penalty kill then scores like that.
