I've been considering doing an overhaul (persay) of all the goalie prospects, and putting most (except the sure things) to maybe like half a star higher potential than they are, and putting them all down to red potential. That would more realistically portray the development of goalies in my opinion.

Anybody think this is a good idea/worth the effort?

Yea that guy wasn't a flash in the pan. He had 80 next season he had 82 and then this season he had 82. I didn't bother trading for him because he would of screwed up my teams chemistry.

I beat the Maple Leafs in 6 games, and get Turris and Silfverberg back for round 2 vs the Rangers(1st in the East). The NYR did a few trades this year and have a scary ass top 6: St Louis(87), Richards(87), Gaborik(87), Callahan(84), Stepan(82) and Nash(87). They would beat me in 5 games. Montreal wins the Cup vs Detroit and Binghampton wins the Calder Cup.

What pissed me off the most is that Silfverberg(57 points in 77 games) doesn't win the Calder trophy, nor did Lehner(70 games, 2.00 GAA and .900 SAA) but freaking Conacher(19 points in 80 games)... That made no sense and is still pissing me off... :/

Got a bit of free time now so I'll start a new Be a GM with the Jets.

My goal will be to try to acquire Kovalchuk, Hemsky and Malkin. Why? Dunno, why not.

E: WTF is wrong with value? Got Bieksa for Stuart + 2 AHL'ers, then got Hemsky for Miettinen + 3 star prospect.

Going into year 2 with the Ottawa Senators, I will probably sim 80% of the games, made a few moves in the off season, had 4 first round picks(8, 10, 16 and 20). New lineup looks like this:

Michalek(83)-Spezza(89)-Silfverberg(81)
Puempel(75)-Turris(81)-Alfie(84)
Daugavins(81)-Smith(80)-Figren(78)
Greening(76)-O'Brien(74)-Conndra(76)

Cowen(84)-Karlsson(89)
Del Zotto(84)-Claesson(82)
Redden(76)-Klein(78)

Lehner(80)
Leclaire(80)

Haha in the final year of my be a gm he scored 75 goals. Imagine how many goals he could have ended up with if it lasted longer.

Edit: Wait what year is the final year of a 25 year be a gm file?

Edit 2: nvm 1 more year to go.

Sure, I'd love to see the results if you did this. Would this be under the player growth thread?

Another fantastic season for the Jets, though it couldn't get any better than last year.

2015-16 Winnipeg Jets

Record: 46-29-7, 99 points
8th Overall Seed
Stanley Cup Winners (2nd year running)
T-1st in GFPG (3.18)
14th in GAPG (2.55)

Top 5 Regular Season Performers:

1) Evgeni Malkin: 39 goals, 56 assists for 95 points
2) Sven Bartschi: 29 goals, 60 assists for 89 points
3) RNH: 28 goals, 48 assists for 76 points
4) Bobby Ryan: 30 goals, 45 assists for 75 points
5) Josh Morissey: 12 goals, 44 assists for 56 points
HM: John Gibson who unseated Markstrom as the starter 30 games into the season and went on to post 32 wins, 2.21 gaa and a .921 SV%

Top 5 Playoff Performers:

1) Sven Bartschi: 13 goals, 14 assists for 27 points in 23 games
2) Evgeni Malkin: 7 goals, 18 assists for 25 points in 23 games
3) RNH: 8 goals, 10 assists for 18 points in 23 games
4) David Rundblad: 7 goals, 5 assists for 12 points in 23 games
5) John Gibson: 16 wins, 1.86 gaa, .929 SV%

Awards:

Art Ross: Evgeni Malkin (Prior year went to Bartschi)
Hart Memorial: Evgeni Malkin (Prior year went to Bartschi)
James Norris: Josh Morissey (Prior year to Bogosian)
Lady Byng: Sven Bartschi (2nd year)
Conn Smythe: Sven Bartschi (2nd year)
Ted Lindsay: Evgeni Malkin (2nd year)
Maurice Richard: Evgeni Malkin/Alex Ovechkin/Jakub Voracek (Malkin also won last year)

So... A jets play has held 7 individual awards in consecutive years. Pretty huge.

Notable season moves:

After Markstrom faultered, I traded him + for Jeff Skinner who was fairly dissapointing at filling the 2nd line RW role but willing to give him one more shot.
Iggy, JJ, Etem, and several others were moved for cap reasons.

Projected 2016-17 Lineup

Bartschi (89) - Malkin (92) - Ryan (87)
JvR (86) - RNH (90) - Skinner (87)
Schwartz (77) - Klimchuk (81) - Rattie (83)
Wright (75) - Lazar (80) - Downie (80)

Morissey (89) - Bogosian (87)
Kulikov (87) - Rundblad (83)
Kesler (85) - Gormley (84)

Gibson (84)
Pickard (77)

Forced to trade away Ellis as my D are stacked and I still have Marincin, Petrovic, Elliott, Morrow, Hamilton, Lindholm, etc.

I've been getting incredibly bored with GM mode lately, so I decided to try something new. Here's the idea I came up with:

- Using a random number generator, move each captain onto a different team (i.e. if the numbers are 2 and 30, Chara and Ladd switch teams)

- Repeat the process, but instead move the best player (not counting captains) and goalie from each team to another (i.e. if the numbers are 1 and 29, Perry and Hiller switch teams with Backstrom and Neuverth)

- Use the RNG to select a team

So using this method, I ended up with Edmonton. Here is my roster:

Parise (90) - Crosby (95) - Eberle (84)
Hall (84) - RNH (80) - Hemsky (83)
Smyth (81) - Boyle (78) - Jones (79)
Hartikainen (74) - Belanger (78) - Eager (74)

Smid (81) - McDonagh (86)
Schultz (84) - Petry (77)
Aucoin (79) - Peckham (77)

Backstrom (87)
Khabibulin (77)

(Players in italics were acquired through the randomized initial moves.

I traded Gagner, Omark, Potter, and a 3rd round pick for McDonagh and Boyle. Columbus offered me Aucoin for a 2nd round pick, which I accepted to get Andy Sutton out of the lineup.

I don't understand how, but somehow we are below .500 right now - currently 15-16-1... it's probably our defense.

So after picking up Jordan Leopold and Ron Hainsey at the trade deadline, my Oilers finished 47-30-5 - fourth in the West. However, we got swept by Minnesota in the first round.

At the draft I traded up from 21st to 10th in order to select Morgan Klimchuk.

I'm at free agency now, and RNH is 87 overall, so I think he deserves the first-line center spot. Crosby was a huge disappointment last season, only scoring 67 points alongside Parise and Eberle. It was a tough decision, but I went out and traded Crosby. It was the biggest trade I've ever made. Here's what I did:

St Louis received: Sidney Crosby, Jordan Leopold, Niklas Backstrom (the goalie), 2017 1st round pick

Edmonton received: Tomas Plekanec, Kevin Shattenkirk, Alex Steen, and Carey Price

I thought Crosby's value alone would make this trade work (they wanted him), but it wasn't going so I had to throw in the first round pick. No big deal though, I should still be a really good team in 2017. (I play without salary cap so I don't have to pay attention to salary when I re-sign players )

2013-14 Lineup

Parise (90) - RNH (87) - Eberle (88)
Hall (84) - Plekanec (86) - Hemsky (82)
Steen (82) - Lander (80) - Smyth (79)
Jones (78) - Belanger (77) - Boyle (77)

Shattenkirk (86) - McDonagh (87)
Hainsey (85) - Petry (84)
Schultz (83) - Peckham (82)

Price (90)
Bunz (80)

Year 2 was really good and I've never done this good with the sens this quick. Finished 4th in the East, beat Washington in 6, swept both Winnipeg and Montreal(last year champs). Made it to the finals and lost to Chicago in 5 games... Failed getting Alfie a Cup and he retired. Spezza won the Art Ross and Michalek was 3rd for the Maurice Richard. Player progress really disappointed me as Zibanejad and Stone are only 75s, none of my D prospects made a good enough jump to get on the team, Lehner only went up to an 82 overall and Cowen dropped 2 overalls... New lineup heading into the 2014-15 season:

Michalek(84)-Spezza(90)-Puempel(80)
Klimchuk(80)-Turris(82)-Silfverberg(82)
Daugavins(79)-Smith(80)-Karlsson(79)
Greening(76)-Regin(75)-Roppo(78)

Del Zotto(84)-Karlsson(89)
Cowen(82)-Claesson(82)
Okmund(80)-Berglund(80)

Lehner(82)
Kostinen(81)

Top prospects:
Zibanejad(75, 4 1/2 stars)
Stone(75, 4 1/2 stars)
Ceci(78, 4 stars)
Wierchioch(77, 4 stars)
Barkov(73, 4 stars)
Cibak(62, 4 1/2 stars)
Russian dude(70 4 stars)

After much trade manoeuvring, the Jets are good to go for the 2012-13 season!

Kane (84) - Zajac (84) - Hemsky (84)
Ladd (83) Backes (84) - Wheeler (83)
Ponikarovsky (81) - Bolland (84) - Schenn (78)
Burmistrov (77) - Wellwood (77) - Thorburn (71)
C. O'Reilly (75), Cheechoo (76)

Enstrom (81) - Byfuglien (87)
Hainsey (83) - Bogosian (84)
Vinny* (78) - Bieksa (84)
Clitsome (78)

Pavelec (82)
Auld (77)

* Low 4.5 stars TWD prospect. Trouba wasn't in the game so I just replaced him with a custom guy.

My Oilers won the 2013-14 Presidents Trophy! 110 points, 53-25-4. It turns out that I made the right decision in trading Crosby. While he's playing well in St Louis (above PPG, of course), we're fine without him. Check out my top line's production this year:

Jordan Eberle - 44 goals, 53 assists, 97 points
Zach Parise - 37 goals, 56 assists, 93 points
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - 21 goals, 65 assists, 86 points

Only a few players had negative plus/minus ratings (my second line and Brian Boyle) while everyone else had a plus rating.

We'll be facing Detroit in the first round.

Edit: We lost in the second round to Vancouver. They may have been the seventh seed, but they still were a good team.

Eberle won the following trophies: Art Ross, Hart Memorial, Lady Byng, and the Maurice Richard.
Carey Price also won the Vezina trophy and the Ted Lindsay award

After trading for Price and signing M. Staal the Ottawa Senators have finally won the cup in the the 2015-16 season. Spezza(Art Ross) and Puempel(Maurice Richard) ripped up the league, with Puempel's 99 shot(acc and pwr) and Spezza's 99 passing. The Sens also won the President's trophy. At the draft, the sens made big moves, sending Smith(80) and Staal(84) to Winnipeg for their 2nd overall pick, which was used on Lacerte(78, C, 4 1/2 stars). Then the Sens traded Turris(83) for a first and second round picks. The sens 2016-17 lineup looks like this:

Puempel(87)-Spezza(90)-Stone(82)
Kreider(84)-Klimchuk(82)-Silfverberg(83)
Barkov(82)-Karlsson(82)-Kravchenko(81)
Daugavins(79)-Zibanejad(79)-Roppo(77)

Murray(87)-Karlsson(91)
Wiercioch(84)-Ceci(83)
Claesson(80)-Cibak(79)

Price(90)
Phaneuf(54)

Hoping for a repeat, should easily make the playoffs.

yeah, in my GM mode he has won every Maurice Richard trophy except for the one Puempel won(by 3 goals). Ovechkin just rips up the league every year in NHL 13.

Ottawa Senators win the Stanley Cup 2 years in a row Mainly thanks to Price(1.82 GAA, .950 SAA and 12 SO). Spezza and Puempel both dropped to under a PPG but the young depth forwards come through. Once again we faced Nashville in the finals, who again took a 3-2 series lead, but the Sens managed to pull it off. My team should be even better next year as most of my players haven't reached their potential yet. I'll post my next year lineup later, should be able to be crowned the champs again.

Lacerte(86)-Spezza(89)-Puempel(87)
Kreider(85)-Karlsson(82)-Stone(84)
Kravchenko(81)-Klimchuk(82)-Zibanejad(82)
Daugavins(79)-Gaustad(76)-Roppo(77)

Murray(87)-Karlsson(91)
Wiercioch(84)-Ceci(83)
Claesson(80)-Sauer(83)

Price(90)

Again the Ottawa Senators win the cup, now 3 times in a row. Puempel scored a whomping 65 goals and the Sens won 65 games.
