If the PA goes in with a linked offer we are going to see hockey soon.

If the PA goes in with their same delinked offer then there is no chance.

creatively, they could do a linked first year, say 54%, then base it on 3-5% growth after. But even then the NHL probably wouldnt bite.

They might as well just go to linked, I dont see an actual creative solution the NHL would like.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised if Fehr and his hard liners are trying to aggressively go after any player questioning what is happening. Peer pressure and intimidation is a very effective way to control your members.

Nothing will change. They'll meet for about 45 minutes. PA will once again not bring anything new to the table. The PA just wants to look like the good guy after the owners "asked" for a moratorium. ho hum.

Yep.

Don: Alright, we want the same amount of $ as we got in 2011-12+ 1.75% growth.

NHL: That's a joke and you know it. Bring up a new idea or else this is over.

Don: Well then...

Don to the media a few minutes later: ''We initiated the talks and the players were once again shutdown by the NHL. They refuse to negotiate. blablablabla.''

At this point I think the only thing that is 100%, is if the PA does not accept linkage we will not see hockey! That is the only road block IMO.

Wonder why the meeting is scheduled in the evening rather than all day? So with that iam not expecting a long meeting. I think this is just the PA saying they are trying to negotiate to save a season and look like good guys

Interesting. Does this mean the PA has given up on the "no pre-condition" requirement for meetings?

What's the point when they are losing money every day? Why wouldn't they just want to negotiate and get something done so that they can go back to making their money again?

Just two days ago it was Don to Gary "i don't know how we proceed here" and Gary recommending a 2 week break so something has defintely changed.

Either the league was told the PA would like to bring something forth or the league knows what is coming forth and wants to talk about it.

Maybe they feel that if they wait the pressure on the NHL will force a better deal.

It's the PA's agenda on Monday.

Classic George Castanza reverse psychology - "If Gary thinks this is a good idea then the opposite must be correct."

At this point there is nothing to gain. Unless you toss the whole season and go after the cap, but I have no idea what would happen then or if it would really benefit them enough to be worth it.

really the best plan is to directly go off of the NHL's proposal. all other plans end them up with less money most likely.

I feel like the players have a lot more to lose if the whole season is wiped out. Why not just actually negotiate instead of pretending like you are to try to win some PR war? To me, it just seems so stupid.

I know - but haven't they always been the ones to say that they want to meet "with no preconditions"?

Now they want to be organized and pro-active?

I think he'll do this too but one can only hope he's finally smartened up and moved in a new and more helpful direction.

I think so and I hope it's not a bunch of stupid questions and needless posturing either. I hope the PA knows that this has to get serious in a real hurry.

I got to admit, if I get the hockey fan off of me. The fun part is just beginning. I mean... like from the perspective of social psychology.

This is the time, when both parties are really starting to feel the pressure. They have been somewhat unified so far. But, not all the owners can have the same needs. Not all the players can have the same needs. They all are in different situations. Now we begin to see the true nature of human being. Do they stand in the same front, or will the overall pressure and individual needs start to tear those lines apart?

Let's see. No that it has nothing at all to do with the deal or NHL hockey itself..

I'm cautiously encouraged that this is the pas agenda.

Either good news or really bad news.

Neither do I. He didn't say anything wrong though the comment was pretty needless. Of course the owners have a plan. It's a negotiation, you should have a plan. The PA's actions seem to suggest they also have a plan. It would be concerning if either party didn't have a plan going into this.
