Their upsides all all pretty similar actually, I'd probably take Barkov, Monahan, Lindholm in that order but it's very close, plus Lindholm already has chemistry with Collberg...
I think Lindholm is more ready than Barkov and Monahan personnally, quite a bit more. He's high IQ and and his game scales very well as skills around him improves. Think Landeskog adaptation capacities, in a more Foppa/Backstrom-like(somewhere in between) skill package. (Disclaimer he's 2nd on my draft list)

Mckinnon

(Then could go either way between)
Lindholm
Jones

(Then could go either way between)
Barkov
Monahan
Ristolainen

Of course this is pre-WJC, my mind is far from set.

Well, when talking about those three, their hockey IQs are all ridiculous, so I'm going with the guys who are slightly more physically developed (all three aren't far off NHL level size and strength, but Barkov is a complete tank and Monahan is already comfortable on North American ice), and if anything Lindholm can be too aggressive - which is one reason he might be the best choice long term.

Landeskog played in the CHL his draft year which helped him. I'm not sure how I'd rank these 3, though they are probably comfortably 3-4-5 right now in some order. Don't think we will have a shot of them anyway which is unfortunate, in fact the Leafs probably end up with one of them too...

Does anyone have a list of how many balls each team would have in a 2005 style draft?

I want to compute the probability distribution.

I believe there is thread on it on the main draft board. IIRC the Habs would be in tough with only 1 ball, while the Leafs would be among 7 teams with 3.

I can't find it, I'll just have to compute it.

I think Barkov could go #2. He has always played up in his age category and was in the FEL at 16. No player gets to play in the FEL at 16 unless they are something special. He is also not even playing on a level playing field compared to other prospects who are in junior because he is playing against men. He is also 6"2 200 Pounds. That is an NHL frame right there.

Anybody else see that he has 23 points in 22 games in the FEL ?

Most teams actually have Jones as the consensus #1. MacKinnonhas lost a bit of ground so far this year and guys like Monohan Barnov Drouin etc are gaining on him.

Like I said, the only major concern is that he's already peaked. Because he's already huge (it wouldn't surprise me 200 pounds is an understatement) and plays such a mature game, you'd never guess his age if you didn't know. Because he might be the best player in SM-liiga right now.

If he has a strong WJC, he could end up fighting for #1. I think a lot of people are skeptical because he's Finnish. There's legitimate reasons to think Mackinnon and Lindholm have higher upsides since they are more explosive, but I have yet to see anything but fatigue slow down Barkov.

Last tweet of night. 1:45 AM in Finland! I feel Aleksander Barkov merits serious consideration for 1st overall in 2013 NHL Draft. He's good!

Where do you get yoru info from? Jones is the concensus #1 for most GM's... MacKinnon has had numerous meetings with coaches for his "character"..

I agree, if anything the players behind him are improving, MacK still is doing great.

I don't know what GM's think but most NHL scouting staffs seem to favor Jones right now.

His play has been good but Drouin has been better. The biggest knock on MacKinnon so far have been attitude wise both in Halifax and at the U18.

There may have been issues for Nathan at the U18 but that would also apply to other skilled forwards as well. Todd Gill insisted on playing a boring style and Canada won in spite of Todd Gill.

As far as this season goes in Halifax- if what you are saying is true don't you think Nathan would have been benched at some point? The simple answer is that he hasn't been benched and you are full of cr**.

Don't take Carey Price too seriously, he's just baiting you. Most of us ignore his posts.
