Looking to move Clowe (83, LW) for a 2nd/3rd line RW with some speed. Willing to include a high draft pick, but not willing to take back any more cap space than $4.5M.

Niskanen
Kennedy
2014 PIT 4th round pick

Smith
Puempel
2014 OTT 2nd round pick

In another move this time with the Ottawa Senators, the team has shipped out Matt Niskanen and Tyler Kennedy. The team was able to bring back Zach Smith, top prospect Matt Puempel and a 2nd round pick in the upcoming 2014 draft. "This was a move that made a lot of sense for us. We get a solid young player in Smith who will be an excellent 3rd line Center for a long time. Matt Puempel is a guy who we have high expectations for, and acquiring him just adds to our already deep prospect pool. With the arrival of Dustin Byguflien we had 5 top 4 Defenceman but only 4 spots for them to play in so one of them had to go. Simon Despres fits into our long term plans better than Niskanen did so he became the expendable guy. With a number of star players set to become UFA's this offseason we feel like we have cleared up enough cap space to take a run at maybe one or two big names should anybody hit the UFA market. Overall we are pleased with the deal here in Pittsburgh and we cannot wait to see what Smith and Puempel will be able to do for us."

Confirmed.

Niskanen will add some needed skill and speed to a defensive core that lacks shooting and skating skills. And with the lack of defensive prospects a good pickup. Kennedy will add some much needed speed to a slow 3rd line. Although Smith was a good forward here in Ottawa, others have proven able to takeover for him. Although Puempel was considerably our best prospect, our team is deep enough to have no needs for another LW prospect.

I've traded Malkin, Sutter, Niskanen, Morrow, Kennedy, Neal and Martin. If Fleury didn't suck for me this season the trades I made this season never would have happend.

Just an FYI for everyone. For the 2014-15 season, i'm only allowing Two Trades per year and no injury trades. You'll have had two full seasons now to build your team, acquire the necessary depth, and manage your long term cap space issues.

Two Trades. Can be done at any point in the season.

Nah I'm good. I knew I was developing a team not just reshaping. I have to let things play out a season or two first.

With the deadline coming up, Tampa is going to make a push for the playoffs. I would want to add a top 6 forward, I'm willing to move David Desharnais and picks/prospects not named MacKinnon. If I can't get a top 6 forward, I'd also be interested in moving one of my depth defensemen. My top 4 will be made of Michalek, Markov, Carle, and Ohlund once Carle's healthy, and the bottom 6 would be made of Salo, Babchuk, Sopel, and Mikkelson, all players capable of playing. I'd trade one of the latter 3 for a forward or mid-level pick/prospect.
