Btw, who did he play with in Niagara last year?
Mainly the third line in the playoffs, but he played some on the 2nd line (when he was scoring about a PPG) in the regular season.

I saw a few playoff games where he was in more of a checking role, and he looked solid.

Niagara last year was pretty stacked.

That said, the game I saw against the Russians was the first time I saw him dominate physically like that. I was definitely impressed.

I'm a Kitchener Rangers season ticket holder and have had the pleasure of seeing Faksa numerous times this year

He has an ability to hold onto the puck and make plays in the offensive zone better than most players his age

As a Leaf fan I really wish he was in our system

Congrats guys - you have a very good young center here who seems to be getting better all the time

Thanks! We'd like to see more goal scoring but its pretty impressive he's still producing with his illness issues.

This is a Wild Ass Guess, but Kitchener plays tomorrow which would have been 3 games in 3 nights for Faksa.

He's still not 100% so maybe they felt back to back to back games could be a setback.

Dogs fan reporting in.

Ritchie is great because, as you said, he looks good in a checking role. He is big and strong enough to do pure dirty work, but because of his talent level and nose for the net, he will create offense occasionally, too, even if he doesn't have the skilled/playmaking linemates.

Now that the trio of Theoret - Strome - Ritchie has found their groove, the confidence is clearly there. I was at the 67s-Dogs game today and the line is just unstoppable. The 67s did a good job of getting on them, but if Theo had had a few more bounces go his way, or a few more of Ritchie's shots had gotten through, their line would've had many more points.

Basically, the Stars should have a solid 3rd/2nd liner with size, strength, and skill. He is the type of guy who you can plug into your middle 6 and let him crash and bang. If he were to get the opportunity to play on a first line with a skilled C, along the lines of a Strome (see: D. Roy), I think he could hack it there, too. But only if you're spreading your wingers out.

The guy on the previous page who said slow down with the Benn comparisons - yeah, you're right. I think Ritchie deserves some hype too, though.

That's what was speculated tonight as well. I'm pretty sure he practiced this afternoon in Kitchener but he didn't travel with the team.

Thanks for the first hand info. "Middle 6" winger is how I think of him in the future, with the ability to play a 1st line role depending on circumstances. I'll try to keep my expectations realistic and if he exceeds them then all the better.

London's Scott Harrington checks Kitchener's Radek Faksa face first into boards. Faksa helped off ice alongside trainer.

Corey Pronman updated that Faksa returned to the game.

Other stuff from Twitter ....

Mark Stepneski said Sinitsyn scored his first goal for UM-Lowell.

Stransky scored twice in the third period in a Saskatoon win.

Stransky had a pair tonight, one in the first, one in the third, both off great shots.

They can be seen here:

Missed this Faksa update from last night:

Quote:
As for Faksa, he is operating at 70 per cent.

All of his bloodwork came back negative for the various conditions and the team says he is battling the flu. He's in a contagious stage still and low on energy.

"Trainers have told me that if we continue to push him hard we may go one step forward, two steps back," said Rangers' GM/coach Steve Spott. "He’s pretty ill right now. We want to make sure we’re doing the right thing."

That being said, he's expected to dress Sunday vs. London at the Aud.

Ritchie with 2 goals tonight too, 8 game goal streak I believe.

Remember when he couldn't score to save his life?

More WJC press for Ritchie

They talk about MacKinnon and his weekend in here too. I was at the 8-3 game and though he and Drouin looked to have a rather pedestrian evening they combined for 7 points. Though Drouin somehow ended up with 4A, I was most impressed by the snap show routine after he learned about his 10min misconduct... Slashing the glass, throwing his stick down the player tunnel, etc.

I think I implied that yes. It also means he's not hurt, Kitchener has an excellent trainer and wouldn't let him go back if he was.
