Geno is playing on a team that has Barrasso as goalie coach? Let's hope tommy boy's sparkling personality doesn't rub off on 71.
Say what you want about Barrasso during his playing days but Cam Ward seems to think the world of him.

I wish MAF had half of Tommy B's mental toughness.

Watching the KHL game; I would make a deal for Sergei Gonchar. One year manning the point, powerplay specialist. Do it Shero.

Neal-Crosby-Malkin
Letang-Gonchar

Gonchar did play for the Pens until recently (remember that whole 09 cup thing). He went to the Sens with a no-trade clause, so he probably wants to stay there.

I'll admit that he was one of the best D men we've had in a long time and would love to see him back with us.

He'd waive and come back here in a second if we traded for him. Him and Malkin have some kind of chemistry.

I would love to see Gonch back. Keep him off the PK and watch his mins... he'll be fine.

I also want him on that bench when his playing days are over. The guys first class all the way.

The KHL will be starting back up on Wednesday. Just wanted to remind folks that Russia doesn't observe daylight savings time, so Moscow is now 9 hours ahead of EST.

MMG will play in Omsk on Wednesday at 1600 Moscow time ... which will be 7am EST.

Ah yes, the good old Gonchar debate.

As I've said before, even with his pisspoor effort in 2010, age, and injuries...I'd still take Gonchar over Paul "soft as baby poop which is pathetic for an over $5 million dollar defenseman" Martin.

One more year with him at a discount wouldn't hurt. Plus he and Geno have always had a very tight bond.

Popov #24 and Perezhogin # 37 were Malkin's linemates in NT Russia.
It was most dreadful line on WC 2012

You guys see the compilation of terrible Russian driving on Deadspin yesterday? I hope we get Geno back alive.

MMG lost today. Gonchar spent most of the game in the box. Angry, angry Geno in the zebra's face there at the end ... hope that doesn't come back to bite him in the ass. At least Lisin played today, never did find out why he wasn't in the last game.

Next game is on Sunday, at 6am EST. Not sure if I'm going to drag myself out of bed for that one

So, I got up to watch today's game and not a stream to be found ... only local broadcast in Kazakhstan, and no one has set up a 'rebroadcast' ... text only.
And wouldn't you know ... Malkin scored a shorty.

Yup. I've been following the MMg forum ... someone there is apparently in Kazakhstan and is updating faster than the KHL's text. They also put up a link to another live chat. It's putting my shaky Russian to the test
