That's just not getting the job done. Putting teams away....I think it's been missing most of the season.
The Argos should get creamed by the West at home...but still, how nice it would've been to have their party spoiled by not even being in the Final.
That Chad Owens guy used to be on our practice squad. We trade him to them for a 4th rounder.
It's easy to complain about the trade now. At the time, some of the recievers we had : J-Rich, SJ, Cahoon, Watkins and Bratton. And if I'm not mistaken, we still had Larry Taylor returning kicks for us (not 100% sure about this).
Owens has been a threat ever since he was traded to Toronto, but only this year did he really become a good reciever, and that has to do a little bit with Ricky Ray getting traded to TO.
It sucks we traded him for so little, but at the time we had no room for him really.
Feel bad for Bratton, he is a good guy and great teammates. The ball hit his shoulder protector and bounced off before he could catch, sucky luck.

Yes but he had to jump to catch the ball since he is a smaller, if he was taller we would be in overtime
If Owens would be a hockey player....we'd be hearing from this trade till no end. Thank god though, our GM still has a very good record but that's one heck of a bad trade.
And for the ones who say we didn't have any room....well if you recognize the talent, you keep it and make room for it. We had enough vets to keep a few rookies.

trading owens is understandable, what IS inexcusable is not finding a replacement. Popp for all his great work has yet to address the kick returner issue we've had for 3 years. I'd also like to see Reinebold get canned and a QB replacement for Macpherson who has 0 football IQ.
the big reason we lost aside from horrible blitz packages and an inability to get to Ray (+ deslauriers and bratton's horrible miscues) was the loss of Whitaker - AC's security blanket. Als couldn't screen pass TO to death. Jennigs has terrible hands
Popp has been living on his reputation for quite a while now. Wouldn't mind if the Als go in another direction.
The Als have for the longest time been one the worst CFL teams when it comes to special team/ kicking and defense. They have lived off the offense for such a long time.
Today:
- defense got exposed - again
- we lost so much yardage on the field position game. Our kick-offs are weak, give up too much yardage on returns, and we can't see to generate yardage from our own return game.
That's where I think we lost the game. The casual fan will blame Bratton or Calvillo - but this game was lost on defense and special teams,
Sad way to lose. That was a bad drop.... Argo's gave us 2-3 stupid 15 yard penalty and he couldn't even win the game. No running game at all. Defense was good against run game but let 2 big run. Bad bad bad against the pass...
Anyway on another note dam the Olympic stadium is ugly...
