I like Modin since my young age. He would be a nice fit with Kovy and Ribs on the second line. And the $$ we save we can sign a solid 3rd-4th line guy like Pisani
Parle moi d'amour, tout c'ke tu veux, n'importe quoi mais pas d'amour, j'te jure que j'saurais pas quoi te dire...
But what would we have to give up? That's the price I was talking about.
Depending on how many years he has left on his contract , i would say something along the lines of Ryder straight up or a prospect.Aebischer could also be of interest to Tampa.
Hell (wishful thinking) , Zednik + something minor could possibly do it but i doubt it.
One thing is sure though : Modin would definitively be a nice addition to our lineup.I wouldn't spit on Fedotenko either but Modin is the better of the two right now imo.On the other hand , Fedo is younger and that could be something to factor out in the equation.

Tampa Bay has no interest in Zednik. They would be trading Modin or Fedotenko to shed salary. Modin makes 400k more than Zednik. Not much of a dump.
Aebi is a similar case, though he would at least address the need for a goaltender there.

Aeby and Zednik for both of them. Ive seen Modin play while visiting Tampa and he has one hard shot. With Him and Souray on the PP it would be cannon time.
I go with neither also. Modin is ok. I don't know if he's enough better than Zednik to bother with it. But we'd have to trade for him. I'd take him anyway as a complete freebie, I guess, but wouldn't want to have to give up anything. Obviously Tampa will want a young player or draft pick or something like that, they won't be taking any of the players we want to get rid of.
Presumably Fedotenko won't be qualified now, and will become a UFA? Unless they can trade his rights away dirt cheap before July 1, I guess. Still, he doesn't do much for me. I think we need to upgrade with either more pure grit or more pure skill than either of Fedotenko or Modin bring.
If we loose Ryder in a trade then I say we should go after Lehtinen from Dallas to play with Koivu they really play well togheter. But between Modin and Fedotenko no doubt about it.MODIN
I think Modin would be useful but the thing is, he isn't worth much in trade value. Everyone knows that TB is hamstrung by the cap so if we acquired him it'd be have to be close for nothing. He is better than Zednik but not enough for us to actually send something TB's way.

I agree for the most part but i think Modin is more rounded of a player, and the more we keep hearing about Zednik's attitude in Montreal, i wouldn't mind seeing him leave. Zednik was crap this year, and doesn't seem to play his down low power game anymore. He played with an effective line in the playoffs but didn't seem happy with it.Problem is, he isn't good enough to be a top 6 forward on a contender, and doesn't have the character to be an integeral part of a third line. I get the impression he'd rather be a top 6 forward on a loser than a 3rd liner on a contender.
I agree for the need for pure grit or pure skill, but imo Modin is a huge upgrade on Zednik, or whatever other interchangeable top six forward Montreal used last year. However i'd be surprised if Modin, if traded, landed in the Eastern conference.
