One big game can do that, they need to be there and stay there because they should be there.

Our team isn't a one line team. It's a two line team. Harty, MPS and Arcobello are providing good depth scoring. It's everyone else that is so woefully bad in the o-zone.

I'm thinking that within the next couple of games we'll see the Paajarvi-Lander-Hartikainen line getting on the scoreboard and that if left together they will provide some much needed ES scoring.

You'd have to think that the Barons should be looking at calling up Rajala at some point. No word yet on the extent of Pitlick's or House's injuries, but on a team with limited secondary scoring it makes sense to call him up IMO.

Good point.

Not sure what to make of Rajala. He seems a bit small, and I think the year he spent in Finland taking care of his military duties set him back.

But he is making the best of his situation, which should earn him and Cornet a call up to the AHL squad.

Not the AHL all star Cornet?

I'm taking Rajala if given the choice.

they could use Cornet, I think....but I'd love to see Rajala play.

I remember reading about him when he was tearing up the whl with Schenn and Glennie....yes...THAT Glennie.

@okcbarons injuries: Pitlick and House have concussions, out for the week. Tyrvainen broken wrist, maybe out six weeks.

The Barons have called up calling up Toni Rajala, Phillipe Cornet, and Cam Abney from Stockton.

Well that certainly sucks, we just lost a **** ton of grit. Abney is probably going to have to play more now if these 3 are out for extended periods of time as our only other overly physical forward that plays every night is Byers. Best of luck to the call-ups, it'll be interesting to see where they slot in.

I'm glad to see Cornet back with the Barons. He seemed to have a tiny bit of chemistry with Eberle when he was called up to the Oilers and he scored 20+ goals last year. I'm sure that he's hungry after being relegated to the ECHL.

By the end of the season he wasn't doing much so I'm not expecting a whole lot from him TBH. That said most of the Barons forwards haven't done a whole of a lot either. I'm more excited to see if Rajala has turned the corner or if he's just lighting up a lesser league because of his skill level and once he reaches the AHL he'll fold like a cheap tent.

The ECHL has a lot of goonery. If Rajala can fight through it down there then he should be alright in the AHL.

If there's an NHL season you have to expect that Cornet is playing in OKC. I think he'll have some fire in his belly and I am interested to see what Rajala will be able to do in a tougher league, seems like the ECHL is too easy for him.

And how swift of skaters do you expect ECHL goons to be? Swift enough to catch a guy like Rajala very often? It's a lesser league than the AHL, period, now he'll face better defenses, systems, and goaltenders, it's sink or swim time for the kid IMO.

Josh Green expected to be back soon?

Not going to solve our problems but it'd be useful to have a big veteran forward with decent production back in the lineup.

With the RNH and Lander lines clicking, I can see one of three possibilities:

1) Load up the Arcobello line, move Hamilton down.
Cornet - Arcobello - Rajala
Hamilton - VandeVelde - Byers

2) Rajala joins the more offensive Arcobello line.
Hamilton - Arcobello - Rajala
Cornet - VandeVelde - Byers

3) Abney gets inserted onto the "checking" line, Rajala sits.
Cornet - Arcobello - Hamilton
Byers - VandeVelde - Abney

I think Option #3 makes the most sense.

Gives you a legitimate checking line and a decent 3rd scoring line.

Could easily move Hamilton to LW and swap in Rajala for a few games too. Although in that case, I'd probably move Byers up with them since he adds more "size" to that line than Hamilton.

Byers-Arcobello-Rajala
Hamilton-VdV-Abney

He tweeted today that he was skating and it felt good

I'd try option 1, and if either doesn't click, bring Hamilton up a line

I'd prefer this:

Hamilton-Arcobello-Rajala
Byers-Vande Velde-Abney

Sub Cornet in and out with Hamilton or Abney depending on the opponent.

I'm glad they brought back both and didn't pick between the two. Could have been awkward.

Nelson says Rajala will play with Hamilton and Arcobello.

Cornet is sick.

Sink or swim time? More like get your feet wet at the N.A. lower pro levels.

The kid is a small offensive player who's 4 seasons out from his draft, how long are we waiting on him to show if he's a legit NHL prospect or not?
