My Alma Mater, Hilliard Darby, finished 10-0 for the first time in school history. Very proud tonight!

My former high school went 9-1 this year and picked up their first ever home playoff game.

They won, in one season, 90% of the number of games that the team won in 4 years while I was there. (They went 10-30, with one 1-9 campaign.)

Sounds like Zanesville (and 52 miles from the Nat makes that feasible...) They had some bad years earlier last decade, and now are a very good team. And the best team in the region is like a 15 minute drive north in Dresden, Tri-Valley.

Add in Rosecrans, and Muskingum County has four playoff teams. Playoff fever is definitely in the air.

Of course, Maysville's welcoming is on the road at Steubenville. I've NEVER had good memories of going there for games involving the Big Red.

That sucked. Boneheaded.

In other college news, the silly Bill O'brien coach of the year campaign can end.

Yep, and I lived in Fairborn while going to school. Drawing a straight line from my place there to Nationwide was...also 52 miles.

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd look at a weekend of scores and not see my old high school even in there.

Fun fact: I've mentioned several times that me and my family are all Buckeyes fans, in no small part due to many, many family connections to tOSU. My brother-in-law and his relatives are similarly associated with Texas A&M and have been for some time, and so out of a sense of family togetherness, we'll frequently follow the Aggies between Buckeye games. Consequently, everyone here was watching A&M versus Bama.

So if you heard loud cheering around Upper Arlington a few minutes ago, that's why.

There's about three different places in UA where we've got family - one between Lane Avenue Shopping Center and Kingsdale, one near Fancyburg Park, and one near Wickilffe.

Said brother-in-law (and sister and niece and nephew) is presently in northern Virginia, tho. South bank of the Occoquan River, IIRC.

Do you guys think they are aiming for 16 schools? 13, 14, and 15 just seem like goofy numbers for a conference.

Wouldn't be surprised. 2 divisions of 8.

Pitt and Syracuse??

Rutgers and Maryland are members of the prestigious Association of American Universities -- almost always a prerequisite for Big Ten admittance. And just for fun, I'll throw out two other programs that are AAU members: Kansas and North Carolina. So is Georgia Tech.

sorry for earlier comment.

Pitt and Syracuse just moved from the Big East to ACC, so unlikely they would move again to Big Ten. But do think there will be another move from 14 to 16 maybe next year or year after.
