Montreal signs Getzlaf and Perry together like the Wild did with Suter & Parise, then trade Rene Bourque, Scott Gomez for Bobby Ryan, Saku Koivu. Fire Marc Bergevin hire Patrick Roy as GM, replace coaching staff with Chris Nilan, Rick Green and Mathieu Darche. Trade Armstrong, Prust to the Leafs for the rights to MLSE.

Ducks think Bourque can regain his 30 goal scoring form.
Burke wanted truculence.

Burke won't pay what other teams will for getzlaf or perry. We will be disappointed again.

So is Bergevin fired before or after Montreal becomes a dynasty?

Correction, Burke isnt willing to give deals as long as other GMs, which in the new CBA looks to be a non-factor.

Thats a pretty ****ing solid top 12. Some good youth on that team in the 3rd line that could be one hell of a 3rd scoring line. Lots of grit and defensive play in the 4th line. Steckle for uber important faceoffs and depth.
Would look pretty good but still not sure about Colborne or Kadri and think Bozak stay on the third line, although that breaks up the KFC Line....and KFB doesn't sound as good.

We don't even know if the 2012-2013 season will count as time against existing contracts, which is absolutely certain to be a point of negotiation.

In the last lockout, each contract lost the year of the lockout. Most people believe this will be the situation again.

Yeah, I doubt it would fit under the cap. I'd be happy to just get Perry.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Booth-Kesler-Perry(Plays 1st PP unit with Sedins)
Higgins-Schroeder-Hansen
Raymond-Lapierre-Kassian

Is a heck of a forward group.

I'd love to see the canes use the Alex Semin $ for an offer to perry. E Staal and Perry had some chemistry at the Olympics in 2010 together.

I could see the Canes being surprise players for Perry like this past season with Parise/Suter.

If they miss, no problems at all with another one or two yr deal with Semin.

I have a mythical feeling that Filppula will be leaving Detroit. My instincts say that he might sign with St. Louis.

Perry to Vancouver would be a dream. I'm not as optimistic on us re-signing Edler like a lot of Canucks fans are but we'll see.

if the new cba limits term and cap circumvention which it probably will i dont think burke will have an issue with shelling out the money necessary to make it happen if it was a possibility of them coming to toronto.

burkes beef is with cap circumvention not money. its not that he is cheap, he doesnt like when a $7 million player signs a 12 year deal so that his cap hit can be reduced to $5 million. if a player was worth $7 million and paid $7 million for the term of his contract burke would not object.

He will get nice fat check from Ottawa and goes to play there with his new pal Karlsson.

That did crosa my mind also. Also somewhat familiar with Turris now so that might also affect things. Filppula to Ottawa is fine with me.

where does it say that yakupov is your no.1 RW? he hasn't even played in nhl yet, but somehow a lot of oilers fans see him as next gretzky of somekind. Yeah, the kid looks good on paper, but lets wait and see.

IF Burke brought in a Luongo, Backstrom, Thomas, etc.. IMO you would see the Leafs players playing a lil more confidently just knowing they didnt have to constantly cover their goalies 'arse'.

Burke's Checklist:

#1 goaltender

Top-6 center (not neccesarily a #1 center, just a solid top-6 guy, ex.Weiss, Krejci, Roy, etc)
I agree for the most part. However; I will say its more Wilson's
crap defensive (sic) system, that was the problem.

Improve the GA, and they'll be there.

A good solid #2 would be good.

Unlikely that any of the top guys will sign with the jackets, but I could see them making a push for a Tim Thomas or Backstrom on a short term contract. Either Getzlaf or Perry would be high on their list, but given the other teams in on them (Toronto, Anaheim, Motreal, etc.) they don't have much of a shot.

If Flip walks, Ottawa is a possibility, I guess. Maybe PIT, CAR, FLA.. Possibly NJ, depending what happens with Zajac, Tampa?

Ottawa might just have room in their lineup if Alfie calls it quits and Silf and/or Zib aren't ready. But I think Silfverberg is.
