But at the end of the day good offense beats good defense in NHL 13. If you have both it's just about being on attack more than the other guy.
That ****s over guys like me who play defense first, I'm not a flashy offensive player and the series doesn't cater to that playing style anymore

I dont mean to say flashy offensive play dominates, because a defensive team will run over a team trying to get by on flash. I meant to say that puck possession, smart offensive play, spending a ton of time in your opponents end on attack rather than in your own end, thats what dominates. They can't score on you when you're in their zone lol. That's where faceoff %, faceoff strat, not turning the puck over, and not shooting unless you have a great opportunity comes into play. I'm bloody terrible at not turning the puck over on long bomb passes, that's where I'm looking to improve the most right now. Of course everyone needs a sound D that can keep the puck out of the net, but sometimes good offense is just undefendable no matter how strong your D is.

I like the gameplay of NHL 12 better, honestly. The skating is fine, but I had more fun last year.

Honestly man, looking at the standings, I think there's a good chance you make the playoffs. You're only 6 points out with 20 games to go, and you're going to be playing the teams in front of you several times.

Just for teams trying to calculate what they'll need to do to make the playoffs (honestly not trying to fuel the ol' E v W debate).

2013/14 Bluth Company projected playoff cutoff:

*edit
East = 97 points
West = 86 points

I would have said the same thing last season when I was 3rd in the East by a mile.

I just feel like the defense in this game is very clunky due to the guys taking an eternity to turn around and skate the other way when there's been a quick change in possession. Maybe the more games I play the easier it'll get, but this was not a problem last year and its a giant one this year

That seems backwards. The 8th place team in the East has 70+ don't they?

Yeah well my starting center is hurt and dubinsky is pretty defensive and then my next center is johansen, who is also hurt. :/

Didnt think about it like that. But even then they werent like high slot goals they were low slot just under the hashmarks wrists shots over masons glove. Just when I was getting my confidence back in him...

Its so hard for me to do that. 15 years of goaltending experience tells me otherwise hahah. Its instinct to take away the center passing lane.

That's just if the eastern playoff teams keep on winning at an unusually high rate.

Assuming no 4 point games against the guys youre trying too catch you'd have to go 15-4 down the stretch to get in. If you can beat them once or twice you're probably looking at 14-5 or 13-6. If they stop winning (which should happen to a slight degree) you're possibly looking at 12-7 or 11-8 if u catch a break.

Just get on a streak man, anything can happen!

Hah, aren't you Mr. Optimistic!

Hell, I'm at 71 in 61 GP and I'm already pretty sure I won't be making the playoffs!

ahah true, try adjusting to doing that though, itll definitely help, the goalie ai even cheats if its a two on 1 to anticipate the pass, so taking the shooter helps more than u and the goalie both taking the passer

13-8 should get u in, unless the teams below you are able to beat you.

i think thats why I get so mad at this game. I try to play real hockey, which half of the time works perfect, the other half...well it makes me want to break my controller. Or my phone..

Collapsing just seems like it lacks structure. Tbh I think staggered is the best, mind you I'm a pretty ****** defensive team who gets by on offense lol.

i think another glitch is that faceoff play from center.. win the faceoff.. pass to winger.. pretty much a straight breakaway to the goal.. how the **** do you defend that?.. cant tell you how many times ive been burned with that.. and it's ****ing annoying.
