Not gonna beat a good team like the Grizzlies when you get into foul trouble. Can't be too angry about this game.

Also Z-Bo never gets a loose ball foul. Guess the rules prohibit them from calling him for pushing guys around.

I know it's early, but:

--Landry Fields is averaging 2.4 ppg and is shooting a robust .208 from the floor
--Jeremy Lin owns the third worst shooting pct of all NBA starting PG's (.353 pct). He's only shooting .276 from three.

He did, but was surrounded by garbage. When they traded him in his second season about 10 games in they were like 7-3.

69 games in 07/08 he averaged 17.6 points and 10.3 boards.
11 games in 08/09 he averaged 20.5 points and 12.4 boards.

Walsh wanted him gone to clear all of the cap room, looking back now since they only wound up with Amare it's a shame they couldn't have just kept him and not got Amare. I understand they needed to try and clear as much room to try and get Lebron, Bosh, Amare, Joe Johnson etc.....

I must admit, I'm a very casual follower of the Knicks. I'll put the game on on occasion but it's just hard for me to get into basketball.

That being said, it's really nice just to have people in the city excited about the team again, that always makes me happy.

Its good to not be mad when you read about a teams loss because you have enough faith in them to bounce back. Can't wait for the next game. Also I really hope Woody starts giving Camby some burn.

I really don't understand why he's not playing. Even if he missed pre-season, you want to get him some minutes at a time.

Only two disappointments thus far for me: Tyson Chandler & Steve Novak.

Tyson hasn't really been too much of a disappointment- we're getting beat in the paint often because his help defense is so good and he's always swarming around. I am upset with his inability to rebound, though. Camby and Kurt need to start getting more minutes, for defensive presence on the second unit and for rebounding. Steve definitely has been way off, though, and he needs to find his shot soon.

I heard he changed his shot in the off season to try to get a quicker release.
It isn't working...

I'm not saying Amar'e would have had an easier time guarding Gasol last night than Melo did, but it would have been nice getting some extra size in there. (This post being posted to all of the Knicks fans who think we're set without Amar'e and 'Melo at the 4)

Should have seen some Chandler/Camby on the court at the same time.

Agreed. I want STAT starting when he gets back, at least a decent amount of the time. It's alright to go small (and Melo did a decent job of guarding Marc before the refs decided they didn't want us to win) but size still has big benefits.

Woodson needs to be fluid and start/sit Amar'e depending on the team we're going against.

I don't know where this idea that Melo is better at the 4 came from.
He's been a small forward his whole collegiate career and pro. Probably HS too.

It's fine against small teams but you can't play him there all the time. Against a big team, he'll get into foul trouble (as evident as last night) and most important, imo, you'll wear him down.
Want a worn down Melo in the playoffs?

Had no idea there was an afternoon game today.

Should take some of the boredom away from a Sunday without the Giants.

Alan Hahn is saying Amar'e should be back around Christmas and Shumpert around New Years.

Hey guys did you hear that Rasheed Wallace came out of retirement to teach the kids how to post up in the NBA?

Kidd looks like a mental patient with that head-band.

We need to get Camby in some games. Especially when you see opposing big men like Randolph dominating the boards.

I still can't believe Camby didn't play against the Memphis trees.

I couldn't disagree more. You don't just disregard a winning formula. Amar'e is a below average defender, putting it nicely. Worse than Melo under Woodson. Melo is rebounding the ball and killing opposing teams' 4. Maybe down the road this year, you consider starting Amar'e depending on opponent but definitely not right away.

Melo didn't do anything significant against the two big front courts he's faced so far in SA and Memphis, although he was able to adapt and play a really good game in SA anyway, just without any offense. I think it's yet to be seen if Carmelo can handle true big men at the 4.

A pipedream trade would be Amare+ for Paul Gasol...
