Last season he had a streak that saw him put up 7-14-21 in 11 games. That's why he was drafted. He completely tailed off the rest of the season (22 points in 41 remaining games 10/27 onward). The Wild are hoping for him to figure this consistency thing out.

I liked the Bussi pick, but he really impressed me in the prospects game.

I, too, liked the pick. Even tho was a bit risky pick, imo, but he definitely has all the tools to become a great player. Waiting for him to step on the A or NHL ice to see what he's really capable of.

I disliked the position, not the player. Our defense has gaps that need to be address and I rather had them address in the draft and not through a trade. Bussie is a boom or bust prospect.

Wasn't too fond of the pick, I would've preferred Sissons, Thrower, or Frk but the Wild organization is typically better at evaluating talent than me.

I thought Bussieres was the right type of player to pick at that spot. I had been wanting McCabe (missed him by two picks!) or possibly Frk. I think at the time I had considered wanting Thrower, but looking back at it did we really need yet another bottom end of average sized right handed defensemen with potentially questionable play in their own end?

What I felt we needed in the second round was either a solid, smart, defense first type defenseman or a high risk/reward shoot first winger. Bussieres definitely seems to qualify as the latter. Looking back, I'd rather have the inconsistent, questionable work ethic of a Bussieres over the underperforming, concussed Frk.

Looking at the draft results right now, I think I would make the same pick in the Wild's spot.

"but the Wild organization is typically better at evaluating talent than me."

... well the CURRENT Wild organization is probably better. The Risebrough organization on the other hand...

Ironically, picking James Sheppard probably made sense at the time. However, his motivation, injuries and simply lack of NHL-level talent prevented him from being worthy of that 1st round pick.

Ohhh, if only we drafted better in the DR era. Imagine the current Wild team.

That was implied, the Risebrough years made me very skeptical of the Wild drafting but I've learned to give GMCF and crew the benefit of the doubt. They've proved me wrong time and time again.

And the fact that DR & JL rushed him to the big club, put him on the 4th line with Boogaard and gave him goon minutes instead of letting him get 20 a night in a developmental league.

Cuma's issue has been health. In these mock drafts (first google results) TSN ranked him 16th and McKeens had him 17th. Picking him up at 23 in that regard might be looked at as a steal.

The guy i wanted in the 2nd is Ludvig Bystrom, however he was gone far before Wild had a chance to pick.

i think the Wild followed the same line of thought, wanted a gritty winger to play with and edge and took a chance on being able to develop him the right way.
