With hockey fans starved for games, and with the feelgood nature of this story, NBC sports or one of ESPN's 1000 channels should pick this up charity game up and broadcast it live with a "telethon" aspect so they could raise even more money from a North American at-home audience.

Is it just me or is this so obvious someone should have thought of it?

I'm not sure NBC Sports can do it even if they wanted to since it's a player event and they partner with the league. ESPN 'could' do it, if they weren't already showing 500 college football games on its 500 channels.

I love the idea of the game itself and getting both Marty and Lundqvist involved. Wish AC wasn't 2 1/2 hours away or I'd go.

Awesome thing that they're doing, but I just can't justify spending the money to go down there, etc.

I'd be happy to donate, but not spending money is high on my priority list right now.

Gonna be hard to convince a TV Network they'll make more money off a charity hockey game than college football.

What day is the game scheduled for? If it's a weekend I might be able to do it.

The 24th I think? Should be this Saturday. Once again I hate bringing him up, and giving him ****, but you would think if frickin Steven Stamkos is doing this as well as many former Flyers(Gagne, JVR, Carcillo) and a couple current Devils, and Rangers guys that Parise might wanna do something like this too as he lived in Hoboken, a place that was hit hard.

Instead he's been sitting in Minnesota complaining over the $2 million? He's missing out on right now from not playing.

I'm not sure how contractually obligated they are, but this charity game would get better ratings than Marshall versus Southeastern South Dakota State (or whatever lame games some of those stations normally "feature" at night).

Wouldn't have to be NBC Sports or ESPN though, plenty of other options could jump on something like this. Even the color commentators could volunteer their time if a non sports network did it. Just a thought I had.

I wonder if there's any legality behind channels with an NHL contract (Comcast, MSG, etc.) to be allowed to show the game with locked out players?

I'm no lawyer, but I doubt anyone really wants to hassle with it, unfortunately.

Here's the rosters for any of you who are interested in going. As a Flyers fan it is going to be quite strange having Brodeur on my team.

NY Team
Brad Richards - Bobby Ryan - Correy Perry
Ville Leino - Jeff Halpern - James Neal
Brian Boyle - Matt Martin - Tyler Pyatt

Dan Girardi - Steve Eminger
Marc Staal

Henrik Lundqvist

Philly Team
Steven Stamkos - Wayne Simmonds - Dan Carcillo
Scott Hartnell - Simon Gagne - Justin Williams
David Clarkson - JVR - Jody Shelly
Steve Downie

Kimmo Timonen - John Carlson
Braydon Coburn - Any Greene

Marty Brodeur.

It would be smart if they used jerseys with a logo somewhat similar to those in the picture below and just do one team white and the other the darker color of which ever color scheme they use, and then once the game is complete, have the players sign their jerseys and put them up in an auction and all the $$ raised goes to the Sandy relief effort

MSG shows locked out players in the KHL but I feel like this is something different that they can't do.

I'd definitely go but I've already got tickets for Cornell-Michigan at MSG on Saturday so I'll be going there. If anyone wants their hockey fix, they can get tickets to that since they aren't outrageous price wise on some of the secondary sites.

Marty usually looks very rusty when he hasn't played in a while. Like most pre season games, and even the first month of the season ever since the last lockout.

The Philly team looks a bit better though, and they do have Stamkos who is the best player on either team for sure.

To be fair, this is a great chance for him to get rid of the Andrew Peters hockey card.

I figured he'd wanna play in front of his future goalie James Reimer?
