Ask your wunderkind Sven Baertschi if Rattie's a "B-level" player.
Baertschi is too busy making an impact in the AHL to be bothered with the WHL. Sorry, brah.

I love Rattie as a prospect, but I'd trade him and Stewart for Orpik and a pick from Pittsburgh right now. I've wanted to see Brooks Orpik in the Bluenote for a long time.
Don't take P_B's opinion as an indication of how we all feel. He's in the minority...

That would be a horrible trade for the Blues. You need to get over your mancrush.

Only .3? As in 0.30? So 30%?

30% sounds like a ton to me.

Rattie put up 121 points last season, only around 50 of those combined with Bärtschi. We'll still get the idiots banging on about it all being Bärtschi though.

Orpik is 32, not someone we should be giving up significant assets for. He is one the downswing of his career, and doesn't have the attributes that I think we should be looking for. We should target someone that can also play a little bit of powerplay time on the 2nd unit.

I looked this up in an older Blues-Flames thread, and figured with the games that Rattie played without Sven, which was a significant amount, he still would have been one of the WHL's top scorers. He is once again one of the top scorers in the WHL without the all-mighty Sven.

Rattie was just named the top player for the WHL in the Subway Series. He has 31 points in 21 games right now, despite getting off to a somewhat slow start. It's really interesting that he could still be leeching when he's not playing with Sven still.

Wait, please tell me this was not an attempted crack at Rattie. So because he isn't old enough to play in the AHL he's worse? I pray you're joking.

Baertschi is much more polished then Rattie is. I don't see Rattie doing much at the NHL level.

Once again, no one is saying Rattie is better, just that he's not completely worthless without Sven.

Edit-

Worthless was an exaggeration

I find it really funny how quick the Blues fans in this thread have turned on Stewie. He is a proven 28 goal scorer. And if I didn't know any better, I would think that he was a 30 pt player. He had 1 bad season. And yes, we are looking for an upgrade at the #2 LHD D-man opposite of Petro. But talk about over paying/giving assets away. Gio is a player that will always be more valuable to Calgary than any other team. Hence you will be over paying for a player that you can deal without. Petro can make Cole into a partner, he did it with CC. I am sure he can do it again, cuz he is that dam good.

And it doesn't look like any games will be played this season, so Cole has a full year in AHL to fine tune his craft to secure that position on the team for the 2013-14 season.

I don't think anybody's turned on him. He's a proven scorer but so was Brad Boyes. I'm not saying he's Brad Boyes but there IS a chance that he doesn't bounce back to his previous form. That can make a lot of people nervous, you know? That makes you want somebody else to take the risk on him.

That'd be workable. And I think it makes sense for both teams, given the Pens' shortage of RH scoring wingers and the Blues' young, relatively inexperienced blueline.

Nobody speaks for everybody, obviously. People are very eager to shut down potential trade targets (it's easy to say "no" ), but no Blues fan took me up on my request for examples of who they'd be looking for. Not traits, actual players.

More than likely because the players they're hoping for aren't remotely available. Teams that have top-pairing defensemen aren't usually looking to move them for futures.

I don't know what's wrong with my definition of B prospect. Rattie is just that.

"A" prospects are reserved for players like Granlund, Huberdeau, Tarasenko, Baertschi, Kuznetsov, etc.
