Also reported on WGR this morning. Good luck to Spacek in all his future projects. I enjoyed him while he was here.

Pretty creative hockey-publicity event by the Predators... they invited 250 people to a "pizza party" at a local sportsplex and then had them go to a youth hockey game (along with the Preds' PA guy, announcers, the whole deal) and made it a special experience for the kids involved http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...7050--nhl.html

Could've done without the cheesy, emotional music in the video, but a cool event by Nashville.

Cut the digital media interns some slack. They've had little to add to their portfolio until now.
At least they omitted country.

Ryan O'Reilly signs a 2 year contract with Magnitogorsk.

What's interesting about this is that it's not a lockout contract that lets him come back. Because he is not under contract (currently a RFA), it's just as any other free agent signing. There are likely out clauses, but apparently it's a non-binding agreement that he can opt out if he gets a "better" offer from an NHL team...it could very well be a ploy to get more money from the Avalanche.

Boy, getting Ennis inked before the lockout was huge. Wouldn't want to be in a similar predicament with our guys.

Not sure what section to post this under but I came here to give props to your goalie, Ryan Miller for playing in a charity game in Orange County tonight. The teams were made up of mostly Ducks & Kings with a few others thrown in including Miller. All the money went to the local Children's Hospital & to the peewee Junior Ducks team that is headed to a tournament in Quebec. Miller's team lost 10-6 but everyone seemed to be having a good time. They even threw a mini shootout into the game towards the end of the 2nd at the players request. Great to see hockey live and your goalie looked great out there. Lineups for anyone interested.

Quebec Home team

#5 Bryan Allen 6'5 226lbs

#32 Toni Lydman 6'1 202 lbs.
#44 Sheldon Souray 6'4 237 lbs.
#1 Jonas Hiller 6'2 194 lbs. Goalie

Quebec Away Team

Makes sense since Miller's wife is an actress and lives most of her year in the LA area.

Well he did give up his first goal to the sniper, George Parros. Getzy somehow managed a hat trick, I really think it was another player in disguise though cause we all know our captain doesn't shoot. Miller has this cool poke check on Getz when he came in showboating once, it was really funny.

Instead, players have had to keep busy playing mainly with beer leaguers, including Stamkos joining his father, Chris, in his Thursday night games near his hometown of Markham, Ont.

The two time Rocket Richard Trophy winner admitted he has had to take it easy on the old-timers.

ďThereís a couple times when Iíve had to take a little mustard off the shot,Ē Stamkos said, adding that former teammate Steve Downie and Leafs alum Dan Daoust play in their games.

ďBut itís great for my Dad and his buddies. A lot of them havenít had the chance to skate with NHL players before. Itís fun for me to get out there and skate with those guys as well.Ē

Lucic admits he isn't in game shape.

I wonder how many guys around the league will be struggling in camp?

Visnovski wants to stay in KHL and there are rumors Kovalchuk does as well. Obviously thats not supposed to be allowed, so stay tuned.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=413011

Quote:
Visnovsky released a statement through his agent Neil Sheehy:

“I have decided to stay and continue my career in the KHL for the remainder of the 2012-13 season. I am thankful to the New York Islanders for being so good to me. My decision not to play in the NHL is due to family and personal reasons. I have made no decisions on next season. My focus now is on Slovan Bratislava, and enjoying my family in my home country.”
Quote:
However, TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted: "NHL says it's been assured KHL won't let players with valid NHL deals play in KHL. Guess that "assurance" will be put to test. #visnovsky"

I've heard Kovalchuk rumors (staying in RUS?) but not able to confirm. NJD told me they "haven't heard (Kovy) isn't coming back."

That should be an entertaining debacle if they really are serious.

Wow.

http://capgeek.com/player/339

I thought perhaps he got a seriously front loaded deal in NJ and was trying to take the money and run, but its actually the opposite. He is due over 60 million over the next 6 seasons from NJ. Obviously due to income tax, increased escrow, etc, it'll be a bit less than that, however, its still the bulk of his contract. Him staying in the KHL would pretty much start a war between the two leagues.
