Nazem Kadri named AHL Player of the Week ending Nov. 18 - and discussion thread.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Toronto Marlies center Nazem Kadri has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 18, 2012.

Kadri tallied eight points (one goal, seven assists) and a plus-3 rating in four games last week, sparking the Marlies to a 3-1-0-0 record.

After picking up an assist in a 6-5 overtime win at Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Kadri tallied two helpers in Friday’s 6-3 loss at Hamilton. In Saturday’s nationally televised rematch with the Bulldogs, Kadri tied a franchise record with four assists – including three on the power play – and was named the game’s first star in a 6-1 Toronto victory.… read more

I know stats don't matter, but those are decent numbers.
He'll be our #1 centre yet.

It was just a matter of time before he racked up the points.

He's been one of our best offensive forwards since the start.

Kadri has always been the type to start off his production slow at the very very beginning but once he gets his mojo going, he is phenomenal. These past games have proven so.

He is going to be very good.

Atta boy Naz.

Gotta figure the assists will keep coming playing with Frattin. Good practice for when he plays with Phil

I like the fact he is racking up the assists! That is what our 1st line needs. I really hope he keeps it up. He is looking good, once he figures out to go around people instead of try to go through them he will be amazing.

Although i have my doubts about Nazem and don't think he'll amount to anything more than a 50-60 point skilled 2nd liner and shootout specialist, it's good to see him step up for the Marlies. Congrats to him

Great to see. He was benched for one game on the road trip and has responded the right way - with a streak and a player of the week award.

I REALLY hope he can pan out....if he even turns into a solid 2nd line center, I would be extatic!

He is still a bit smallish to absorb a full season on the 1st line if you ask me. Playing against the likes of Chara, Webber, Byfuglien, etc. would be rough!

Perhaps knocked the entitlement, just show up make some pretty moves and head back to the bench 1st. round pick sense out of him.

Great job by the coach, right from calling him out on his fitness.

Sometimes you have to break something in order to make it stronger.

Sign me up! if a 7th overall turns into a 50-60 point 2nd liner you did fine..

Lupul broke out as a first liner this year after nearly 10 years in the league.

only top 5 picks are expected to be top liners or first pairing really. Most drafts alot of picks 6-15 don't really pan out into mega stars.

Kadri scoring 50+ points would be great if he can do it consistantly.

Almost no picks turn into mega stars. Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos are mega stars. Only a handful of mega stars. Then we drop down to huge stars, mediums stars, small stars, stars, very very good players, ...

50-60 point players aren't stars whatsoever.

Not saying it's a bad thing, but 2nd liners should be fairly easy to acquire/draft. We got JVR for just Schenn. We signed MacArthur for nothing. We got Lupul as a toss-in.

I'm still in the boat where if you can include Kadri in a package for a better piece, pull the trigger

I think that's an extremely optimistic scenario for him lol.

the answer is simple. you don't like hearing the "bust" opinion, but you like hearing the "he'll-be-great" opinion.
Oh, cool! I didn't know that's how I felt! Thanks for telling me how I think!
