Well, Illinois is utterly destroying USC at halftime, so at least that's a nice end to a ****ty day.
Holy crap that game was ridiculous. They won't play like that again the rest of this season. That reminded me of the 04-05 Illini....they couldn't miss.

Considering the next game is Chaminade, which probably had a fluky win against Texas, it appears they may have a fairly easy road to the championship game against a North Carolina team that opened up a can of whoop ass on Mississippi State.

Yes, should kill Chaminade tonight. Sucks Texas didn't beat them, I think we would beat Texas.

UNC isn't that good. Outside of McAdoo, there's not a lot of threatening, top level players and they're not seasoned enough to make up for that with chemistry and veteran savvy.

Definitely think Illinois could win that game with a good shooting night.
I was in Mexico on vacation during Spring Break. Now, in hindsight, I wonder why the hell we booked a trip so early and didn't dedicate that money to go to St. Louis, which is obviously only five hours away, and go to the two Final Four games.
At any rate, the vacation was at an all-time high when we beat Louisville by 15, but quickly turned into a sad one when we get boned.
As much as I get angry about the MNF game with the simultaneous possession, that game was still much worse.
Eh, to each his own, I guess. I was a fan of the Illini growing up, but never big enough to where I'd want to travel to see them, as I knew I'd eventually be a fan of wherever I went to school.

Well, my family usually took one big trip a year. Haven't really done it since college is nearing.
Went from trips like Mexico to stuff like me going to see the Cubs in San Francisco and Philadelphia, the Hawks in Vancouver and Nashville, now to just going driving distance to see teams on the road.
Right, I understand that. I've gone places to see the Hawks, Sox and IUBB and FB, and may go to the Bears game in Minnesota next month. Point was more that Illinois was never 'my team' since I knew I wasn't in it for the long haul, if you will.
Now, if your parents are alums and big fans, then it's a different story. But if they aren't, I'm sure they enjoyed the resort vacation more

I would have gladly traveled to go see them, but they weren't really good and worth traveling to see much longer after 2005.

I've never been myself, but I had some buddies go up to Minnesota for a Bears/Viqueens MNF game... They all had a freaking awesome time. Game was just ok IIRC, but they said they had a blast afterwards with the bar scene.
Yeah, Minneapolis is pretty legit. Was up there in September for the 1st time since I was a little kid. Tons of bars and strip clubs right near Target Field and the area around the U of M, Dinkytown, is pretty cool as well.
I'd be fine with taking on Ubaldo, and hoping to maybe flip him for anything at the deadline. His salary next year is under $6M, $8M team option the following year or $1M buyout. I have no reason to expect he'll bounce back, but that's not a terrible price for someone like him who is streaky enough to maybe put together a decent enough first half.

Yup, low risk/high reward guy. I'm not giving up any promising prospects but I'd be happy if the Cubs just gave the Tribe financial relief.
Yeah, Ubaldo would be a good acquisition. I thought the Tribe were going to try to fix the team but I guess they are going to stay cheap. Maybe take Chris Perez back too.
