Binghamton Senators - Philadelphia Phantoms Brawl (flying goalie)
What a line brawl from the AHL from 9 years ago. Two crazy things: Neil Little flies through the air like Superman and Jim Vandermeer absolutely SMOKES Brian McGrattan.
I had seen highlights of Little flying into the pile before, but never have I seen this entire brawl.
And apparently there were two more brawls during this game.
emery is on the ground, under a ref, and still taking blows from a phantom (i think it was pete vandermeer?). That is why gratts was punching that phantom from behind.
but no, jim's the hero who comes in and stops the ******* mcgrattan, right?
Is that Mike Peluso ? Isn't he a really tough guy, too ?
It's great seeing McGratton getting beat up.
its a different Mike Peluso. haven't watched THIS particular clip, might be the same on i have on dvd. that flying act Little showed could have turned out badly for another player as the skate blades could have found human flesh. not a Little fan regardless. didn't like his hand dusting after he hammered that Hershey goalie yrs back.
on my dvd he grabs a stick at one point and makes a spear throwing motion at Emery. kind of an ethnic slur ?

Yeah the color commentator was pretty brutal. I don't have a problem with McGrattan going after Pete Vandermeer since he's helping his goalie, but I wasn't appalled by Jim helping out his brother (have to give McGrattan a ton of credit for getting back up after that shot).
Oddly enough, McGrattan was joking about this fight on Twitter and was laughing about the punch he took.
As cool and awesome as Littles swandive was, this isn't a sport where you are wearing cleats or basketball shoes, he's very lucky his skates didnt catch someones face or throat.
That's not really that impressive. Pretty much a definition of a scrub. Couldn't even land a contract in europe.

Lits was an 11th round draft pick and ended up playing 11 years in the AHL (making 6 figures in his latter years with the Phantoms) and spent his entire career with one organization. He also finished his career in Europe (2.43 GAA and .916 save %age).
yes he did. His last year before retiring he played in Europe (Finland/Switzerland). Why does not playing in Europe mean he's a scrub anyways?

No there is another 100's of goalies I can label as scrubs as him. Just becasue there is someone worse it doesnt make the guy good. Just like Mario Lemieux wasnt bad because Bobby Orr was better.
I'm not impressed by being 10th all-time in wins in the AHL. It's a league that is very poor, specially during the era when Little played in it and wins is a team stat. I forgot that he got to play with a mediocre Blues team though.

Only played a bit in the AHL but that was back when it was a good league and cracking roster there were like cracking an NHL roster today. What does that have to do with anything? You don't have to be a chef to know that you are eating garbage do you?

That's the first thing I think of when I watch this fight, too. Recklessly stupid.
