Am I the only one who would like to see Zucker make the Wild lineup before Coyle?

No. I would like to see him round out his game and get stronger.

Let them both mature in Houston this year, no matter what happens with the lockout. In fact, leave Granlund there...

With Cullen and Bouchard off the books for 13-14, a 2nd line of Zucker-Granlund-Coyle, having played together for a full year in Houston, is far more tantalizing than bringing them up piece meal.

While that always sounds intriguing, it's ultimately a terrible idea. The defensive game at the NHL level is a whole other world. I'd rather not even see two rookies on the same line for a regular shift until the tail end of the year. Perhaps for 13-14:

Parise-Koivu-Zucker/Coyle
Seto-Granlund-Heatley
Coyle/Zucker-Brodziak-Clutterbuck

Ultimately, I don't think we'll see all three of them brought up to the Wild at the same time. Granlund's a given whenever the lockout ends, but I think at least one of Coyle and Zucker will be kept in Houston.

No. I see Zucker haven't a harder time scoring at the NHL level than Coyle. NHL Dmen can negate Zucker easier.

Zucker's ceiling is higher, I think, but he's going to need a year or two in the AHL bulking up.

Can you say "top 6 power forward"?

...No, actually, not yet. Let's see if he can keep it up, first. Remember, Shep was a stud in Q...

Don't think he's eligible to play in Houston under the current arrangement.

Depending on how the rest of the season plays out, I'd rather see him stay another year in the Q.

This.

He won't make the Wild out of the camp, as they already have Bulmer if they need a physical, offensively gifted power forward/grinder. I believe they're very similar players. And, as GS mentioned, he can't play in the AHL under the current arrangement.

Besides, another year in the Q won't hurt him.

You're mistaken. Bussieres is a 93 so he's eligible by age for the AHL next year. He also will have 4 years of CHL play and is therefore eligible under the other option as well.

Actually he's not. I believe he has to turn 20 as the season starts and he is a late 93, at 11-05-1993. But you are right, if the Wild want to put him in the AHL, they could as he played 4 seasons in the Q.

Zack Phillips was eligible this year, and he was born 28th of October. IIRC you only have to turn 20 the year the season starts.

You must be 20 years old by Dec 31st or play four years in the CHL and Bussieres will actually have achieved both. So he will be eligible for the AHL.

I'm not sure if they want him there or not...depends on how many of the kids graduate this year I suppose. Contract spaces are running low.

On the other hand, if he plays next year he wouldn't be eligible for the U20 WJC so it'd basically be a 20 year old beating up on the kids all year. Not much to prove.

We should have a large amount of expiring contracts after this year, though. But a lot of them are RFAs.
