Andy Sutton Out for the (Hypothetical) Year

Retweeted by Dan Tencer, via Tambo on Oilers Live.

I'm assuming he'll call it a career now, regardless.

I liked Sutton...it was nice to have a little dirty on the team.

Well hopefully Peckham gets his development back on track because we're in dire need of some physicality on the back end now.

Petry-Smid
Schultz-Schultz
Whitney-Peckham

(Or some variation of the above. I can't remember handedness.)

Too bad for Sutton. I hate seeing player's careers end during a lockout.

I thought this story broke 3 weeks ago. Habby could also be out for the year

I'd be just crushed if Khabby was out to.

Sorry, stoked. I meant stoked. Not that we'll be seeing hockey any time soon, but still.

Just read Gregor's article, and it appears that Khabbi will likely be healthy at some point in the imaginary season.

I wasn't even aware that Sutton was having any injury issues.

As Willis, and others, have suggested on Twitter, this could be a career ender for Sutton. That's really too bad that his NHL career might end in such a fashion, he's a really good guy and I was looking forward to him being some experience and toughness on the back end this year.

Also, some more "beauty fakes"

Really tough luck for Sutton. Good guy and an ok bottom pairing. Really sucks as this is mostly likely a career ender. Sad news.

I cringe when I think about the possibility of losing anybody on our D to injury. Our depth at the position is awful, and an injury to anyone means that Potter or Teubert are in our top 6 (not that Peckham is much better than those two to begin with).

Tambo desperately needs to acquire literally any defenseman with NHL ability, because we are digging our own grave beginning a potential season with that kind of depth.

As bad as a guy like Campoli is, he's a free agent and is at least considered an NHL player. I'd sign him if no other options to squire a better defenseman pan out.

That really sucks. Would've been a way better option than Peckham or Potter on the bottom pair

Well, at least this is a new problem for this year, right?

Don't even get me started.

I've liked plenty of things Tambo has done with this team in regards to long term planning, but his short term decision making (or lack thereof) in regards to the current roster has been terrible. Taking over three years to acquire a face off winning centre, choosing to do nothing to add defensive depth when it is obvious that a key player is injured (Whitney), and refusing to dump Khabibulin despite the fact that he is terrible, old, and inevitably injured are all problems that are relatively easy to solve, that have been confusingly ignored.

I really like Sutton, unlike a few on these boards. We need a nasty player on D. I'm sure there are a couple out there somewhere.

Best of luck to him whether he plays another game or not, we could really use a young version of Sutton patrolling our blueline for tears to come.

Not as big or strong as Sutton, that said if he can be a steady #6 guy that can PK and play a physical game that's good enough for me.

Well I really don't like Sutton... but I HATE the idea of not having him. He's easily the best option we've got for the third pairing.

I wonder if this gives Marincin a chance. Not the most physical guy out there, but he's got the size.

No. That was a stupid idea. I apologize.

What the hell do we do?

I know! Corry Potter!!!!

Just imagine if Ryan Whitney doesn't come back next year.

Smid-Petry
N.Schultz-J.Schultz
Potter-Peckham

Really bad defense

Really bad bottom pair. Not sure I hate the top 4 all that much.

I'm not overly worried in a shortened season. I think Teubert or Marincin will get the odd game or more if there are injuries (of course, there need to be games first...)

Damn that sucks. I wouldn't want to see his career end on that. He was really good for us for what we expected.

Sucks to lose Sutton, but I think he should be easy to replace.

Tambellini "I don't believe Andy (Sutton) is going to play this season.

Not shocking.
