If this season is cancelled do the kings count as stanley cup champion of 2011-2012 AND 2012-2013???

If ao, theyll have no problem repeating

No. If the seasons is cancelled, Bettman wins his second Stanley Cup.

Off course they can repeat. I'd give odds around 8 to 1. Which is to say they probably won't but are certainly amongst the top contenders to win the Cup.

This would actually be Fehr's second trophy. He's got a 1995 World Series trophy on his mantle already. Poor Expos fans.

It will be interesting to see if they can play to their potential for the regular season (maybe they will stay dormat until the playoffs again) because a lot of player tire out or are already injured from the regular season.

Id put the odds as good as NYR, Bos, Van, St Louis ect

They probably have the best odds of doing it in a long time, some argue Boston had a good chance until Tim Thomas went all looney.

If (more like when) this season is cancelled they will benefit from the rest.

The entire team is coming back, they play in a relatively weak division outside of Phoenix and have an absurd top 6.

That being said, there's a reason why a repeat champion hasn't been seen since 1998, it's because it's damn hard to do.

For all we know, LA could tear the league up in....whenever the next season is, roll in to the playoffs as the president's trophy winner and have what happened to them what they did to the Canucks last season.

They have the best chance sure, but even then the best chance is still slim.

I'd like to see it because i'm a big fan of Kopi and Brown (Followed Brown ever since his rookie year because i got a crapton of Kings games on NHL Network in Canada) as it would give them more exposure

What's going on with the Kings? Stanley Cup hangover?
I don't watch many Kings games but is motivation one of the issues? As an outsider, some players seem lazy (Doughty, Penner, Carter) and only try harder when they need to (playoffs/Olympics). Is this a fair assessment for their poor start to the season?

Carter has been our best forward, doughty has been playing almost 30min a game and penner is...well penner, he won't show up till playoffs. Our problem is our d-core is devistated with injuries and johnny quick hasn't been playing up to what we expect. Our last 3 games hAve been great, looked like the cup champs but right now Chicago is making us look silly but they're doing that to nearly every team.

waiting until a team is 25% into the year and out of the playoffs, and currently losing a game to make that prediction

So brave!

Not just saying this because they're struggling at the moment, but L.A. just caught lighting in a bottle last year. To win the Cup you need absolutely everything going for you - including luck. It's so hard especially nowadays to repeat, even if you are consistently one of the best like Detroit or Pittsburgh. And L.A. is not those teams.

Same, that would be awesome for the Jackets. They deserve some solid recomp after the Carter fiasco.

Did you guys really expect the Kings to go to Chicago, play a day game which they're usually terrible at, and run them over? It doesn't matter if the Kings went straight to Chicago in the middle of that Cup run, they'd lose this game. Against Chicago they don't do well.

In the post lockout era (2004), only the wings have come close. You have to be a really special team to repeat in this parity. I supose the kings could get hot again, but there's really no time to dick around this season.

Well when Carter and Clifford are the only ones showing up to play and Mitchell and Greene are out for the season, I guess this is what happens.

Not that the Kings have been great.

But don't judge them off day games you've seen. The Kings are terrible in them....like 20% win percentage the last few years bad. Its very similar to the NFL numbers when WC teams play during the early afternoon/morning.

This thread could have been bumped during their last game, or the game before that, or the game before that. But once again, no one mentioned or said they expected them to win this game (let alone "run them over"), only you.
