Your right....I watched it again and she said European skaters, I thought she said your skaters first time I watched it. Could tell TT was trilled on getting Collberg, compared him to Daniel Alfreddsson.
Still, great interview and interesting stories on how he leaned towards drafting our draftees this year. Especially Nystrom. Also, good how he avoided putting pressure on Galchenyuk. Don't want him to be another Wickenheiser.
After hearing Timmins compare Collberg to Daniel Alfredsson. I went to Hockeydb...interesting find..after everybody complains abuot Collberg's no goals last year....here are Alfredsson stats there as 20 year old. Also consider Collberg was only 18 when he played there last year. Alfredsson was 23 before he came to NHL. And 27 before he turned into a star.
All this Alfie talk. Listen carefully to what he said over and over. He said he is built like him and not plays or has the potential like him. So we can stop the comparisons and high expectations.

You need to watch it again apparently.......
Timmin's said "he is built like Alfredsson and plays a similar type of game as Alfredsson does, he is a great skater........"
There is no other way to interpret this, Timmins is the one who brought up the Alfie comparison.

Okay similar type of game but you can't compare them like that. It's like the RNH and Gretzky thing last year "best vision since Gretzky". Collberg doesn't have that kind of skills. It's not a matter of improving.

That is a silly comparison. Collberg's skillset is very similar to Alfredsson's at the same age. RNH is very good but he hadn't produced anywhere near what Gretzky had at the same age. Comparing anyone to Gretzky is laughable but Alfredsson was never even an MVP candidate......I would say that he is fair game for comparison's, especially with a young Swedish prospect like Collberg.
Trevor Timmin's made the comparison, it isn't like some random fanboy or internet blogger threw it out there.

If Teams knew Alfie has 'that kind of skills' he wouldn't have went in the 6th round. It is a matter of improving imo.

I don't see how it's crazy to say he has Alfie potential. Alfredsson was drafted in the 6th round, if anything Collberg is better than Alfie was at the same age.
That doesn't mean Collberg is the second coming of Alfie, it doesn't mean it's even likely. You clone Alfie and odds are he won't have the same career the real Alfie did. But saying he has similar potential isn't crazy, the two of them have a lot of similar traits. Collberg could end up having a worse career than Kristo, Gallagher or Bozon too, but when you watch him he has a little more of everything and probably works harder than all of them except Gallagher.
The Alfie comparison is because they are a similar size and have a very similar skillset at the same age.
Galchenyuk has potential to be the top center in the NHL. Would I put money on it happening? No way, but when you account the skill he has at his current age, it can't be ruled out.

Sweden wasn't as heavily scouted as it is now.
If Collberg is half as good as Alfie that's a good player.
If Collberg is half as good as Alfie that's a good player.
Alfie also didn't debut in the SEL until he was 20 and didn't explode offensively until he was 21. It was a mix of Alfie being a bit of a late bloomer and the lack of European scouting resources back then.
I don't think Collberg reaches that level but I'd gladly take an Aflie-light.
