Di Matteo 262 days. Villas-Boas 257 days. Scolari 244 days.

So the next one should get around 270 days in charge then.

Talk is that the new manager will be announced tomorrow, which would probably suggest it is Rafa Benítez.

Chelsea have also held talks with Drogba, and if FIFA grant the special dispensation he will also sign on loan. Crazy.

3rd in the league? Wow.
Just get used to it.

6th manager is 6th years, Gus and Wilkins excluded.

Guardiola has said he won't come to Chelsea because of Abramovich's track record with managers. He wants a club that would allow him to have a serious committment and the time needed to build the team how he wants.

That would be a joke if they are allowed special permission to sign him to be honest.

Probably will get it though because FIFA love to help the big clubs out

Wow this is pretty ****** as a fan of Chelsea. I really liked RDM, and thought he was doing a great job given the circumstances.

I know Guardiola is worried about the track record, but I still think he's coming. Could I be wrong? Yeah. Likely? Yeah. But it would be awesome.

Can you guys tell me about Rafa Benitez?

They won't be able to sign him on loan. If they do then FIFA are clearly pandering to the bigger clubs.

There will always be guys willing to go there. Pep included. Money and talent > a stupid owner.

I wish Rafa well, but he's a placeholder until Pep makes a decision this summer. And I don't care what goal says on it, he will listen if the cash is right.

I hate Chelsea, but he is a great coach. Definitely will find a job pretty soon. Overall very shocking move.

Can someone tell me how they really feel about Rafa in England? I know they love him in Anfield today, but when I read about him at redcafe, for example, he doesn't seem to be rated whatsoever.

Most people in England don't seem to like Rafa because he dared to call out Ferguson, which then brought the media scourge upon him for how dare this foreigner have an opinion of the great Manchester United manager. Of course as the media so heavily influences people, so it went. I think anyone who can make a regular habit of taking lineups like this

Liverpool

20 Scott Carson
3 Steve Finnan
4 Sami Hyypiä
5 Milan Baroš
6 John Arne Riise
8 Steven Gerrard
10 Luis García
13 Anthony Le Tallec
21 Djimi Traoré
23 Jamie Carragher
25 Igor Bišcan

and defeating teams like this

Juventus

1 Gianluigi Buffon
8 Emerson
9 Zlatan Ibrahimović
10 Alessandro Del Piero
11 Pavel Nedvěd
16 Mauro Camoranesi
19 Gianluca Zambrotta
20 Manuele Blasi
21 Lilian Thuram
27 Jonathan Zebina
28 Fabio Cannavaro

I think it speaks for itself honestly.

I don't expect that he'd actually get a summer transfer market to work in, but when he has money to spend he makes really good moves. I think Chelsea would be a lethal counter-attacking side under him and play some good, winning football. And I'd want them to win the league

After researching Benitez, I'm thinking he may actually be a pretty good option.

The only thing I'm worried about it how he handles the players egos. Gerrard couldn't ever even get a 'good job' out of him, and that's concerning. Could he possibly light a fire under Torres? Yeah, but does it matter at this point? Torres is off to Spain in January, and Falcao will be coming in.

I think we really need to address our CDM's though. Ramires quite honestly is rubbish to me. He takes ridiculous shots constantly, and constantly misses the net by a good 20 meters at least. Same to Mikel, although he's a really good defender. He needs to focus on the D and not the O.

If we can bring in Falcao and maybe somebody like an Arturo Vidal at CDM, then we're set.

Then again I've completely forgotten about our center halves. We need one. Bad.

In the interest of fairness, it should be noted that Grant and Hiddink were replacements. Ancelotti and Mourinho shouldn't have been fired though, no way. AVB is a bit of a conundrum because he's young and ambitious but Chelsea were **** under him and it's not like the Spurs are tearing up the league and RDM was always over his head and not a good tactician by any means.

I would've loved to see Louis Van Gaal at Chelsea with all their offensive talent but they already need defensive help as it is.

Rafa will be interesting.

Sir Alex is going to pull a Jack move and retire naming his successor Pep at the end of this year. Pep will be honored to replace Sir Alex and know he is going to go to a club he has all control and stability in management.

Chelsea are shooting themselves in the foot with this revolving door policy. But what do you expect of noveau riche?

Rafa WAS good, I feel he declined later on at Liverpool (not all his fault) and at Inter, he's a shadow of what he use to be now IMO.

I live three blocks from where Chelsea plays and most of the guys I know who are chelsea fans are not happy with this move. They do not think Roberto was given enough time and they are not fans of Rafa

That clears up a lot for me, especially. Not shocking to see Rafa receiving less than favorable reviews at the redcafe, then. I always thought he was a pretty good manager, and was surprised to see him not working anywhere for a while, but I saw an interview with him sometime recently, and he seemed to just be patient. I would hope for him that his job with Chelsea doesn't come with the same type of expiration date as with RDM. Although I believe it probably would if Pep would consider Chelsea.

Also, it would be pretty funny if RDM ended up with Citeh instantly.
