I think you can even transfer them over Ticketmaster for free.

Changed Team Philly to Team New Jersey.. Makes a little more sense given the affected areas, but really changes nothing.. I hate NY regardless and it's all for charity anyway

I heard an interview with Tocchet yesterday on the radio. He said Mez and a few others would be there but may not play. They might just be there to be there. Maybe he skates a bit. Don't know. It didn't sound like he was legitimately playing hockey. Perhaps signing autographs and the like.

Really impressed with the line-ups. When it comes to professional players in the world, hockey players are the best. They are without a doubt the most down to earth individuals. Even when they do not have to, they try to give something back to the community. And now they stepping up to the plate to gather some funds to help support people in need after this disaster. It really sounds like there will be a great turn out for the "game" and you just know they will put on a good show for everyone in attendance. It would be really nice if we got a "Thanksgiving Gift" by way of an agreement by the players and owners today!

I used to subscribe to this theory, but the faction of hardliners that decided to attempt to nuke the constructs of the league that has made them all multi-millionaires by greedily seeking the services of the only man to ever bring a professional sports league to its knees (to the detriment of all) has forever displaced this conclusion in my mind.

Can't believe no one is talking about this on the main boards. This is like a private, secret semi all-star game during a very dark time in the NHL for 20 bucks. An unprecedented event.

Why don't you start a thread there? It's not unprecedented, there have already been events like this in Chicago, LA, Winnipeg and other cities.

ESPN's goal is to bury hockey. Not make it popular

I'm so pumped for this on so many levels.. Rooting for Hartnell, seeing Marty v. Queeny, and the prospect of doing shots with an NHL player at Dusk are all so amazing.. This is now bigger than a regular NHL game and I love that Philly and NJD are united

FYI - Dusk is permitting game attendees to wear sneaker and jeans but no hats

From Bill Meltzer's blog on HockeyBuzz...

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-...sults/45/47648

Quote:
OPERATION HAT TRICK: Team Philadelphia/New Jersey vs. Team New York -- 7:00 PM

A host of current and former Flyers will participate in the benefit game, including Scott Hartnell, Kimmo Timonen, Wayne Simmonds, Braydon Coburn,Jody Shelley, James van Riemsdyk, Simon Gagne, Justin Williams, Dan Carcillo, Steve Downie, Ville Leino and Steve Eminger.

Broadcast info: There will be no television broadcast of the game. However, there will be a live radio and internet audio broadcast of the game via 97.3 ESPN Radio.
-----------------------------------------

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...sandy/1723839/

Quote:
9:59AM EST November 24. 2012 - Thanksgiving morning for James van Riemsdyk began with a trip from one of his offseason training homes in Minneapolis to the airport, then a flight to Newark that was followed with a drive to his parents' home in Middletown.

The 23-year-old Flyer-turned-Toronto Maple Leaf sure had a lot to be thankful for this year when eating a turkey dinner with family. He was away training and safe the week of Halloween, but hearing and seeing what kind of damage Hurricane Sandy unleashed on his North Jersey region was and still is painful.

Other than a few trees coming down in his parents' backyard, no power for almost a week and 10 days of worrying about the family boat, his family survived with its health and

Some of his childhood friends weren't so fortunate.

"We got off relatively lucky, but a couple of guys that I played hockey with live in beach towns and their houses were ruined," van Riemsdyk said. "All their stuff is basically gone, so this hurricane hit close to home."
----------------------------------------------------------

Seems appropriate that Sammy Hagar gets the GDT song nod for this game:

http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/c...ddf969bb4.html

Quote:
Notes: Operation Hat Trick was nearly sold out Friday, according to Caesars, which is sponsoring the event. Seating capacity for hockey at the Hall is 10,820. ... Former Flyer Rick Tocchet will coach the New Jersey- and Philadelphia-based team. "Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino will coach the New York squad. ... Flyers anthemist Lauren Hart will perform the national anthem today. ... Fedoruk said there will be penalty shots instead of power plays, but other than that it will be a regular 60-minute game. ... Musician Sammy Hagar pledged to donate $1,000 for every goal scored in Operation Hat Trick.
